Something is blocking BitComet, either a firewall on the PC or, if he's using a router, the router needs to be configured to allow the connection.

Try a different torrent client μtorrent is very good.

If that has the same troubles as BitComet, we need know what version of Windows, what firewall, if any, and how he is connecting, make & model of modem or router

Check that your router and windows firewalls are turned off and not blocking the connection or you can go into your windows firewall settings and allow bitcomet through, , try unticking the NAT box on your router, turn you anti virus firewall off

If none of that helps have a look at http://portforward.com/guides.htm, Port Forwarding Guides by Router. Some isps can also have the default torrent ports blocked, so you may need to give them a ring. Hope that helps :)

Macky dont come back to me and start an argument.

Start an argument??? Who me?
Have you somehow discovered the mental capacity required to have an argument then?

Just a few points for lazzer

  • Disabling firewalls is a bad idea
  • Disabling NAT on the router is a bad idea, don't do it
  • Turning off anti-virus is a very bad idea, do not do it
  • There isn't a default torrent port
  • ISPs don't block common ports used by torrent clients and even if they did, giving them a ring would be an utter waste of a phone call

What are you talking about? :icon_roll:icon_roll

[*]Disabling firewalls is a bad idea

It maybe a bad idea but if you are using decent anti-virus there shouldn't be a problem. The most common thing that blocks utorrent is a firewall.

[*]Disabling NAT on the router is a bad idea, don't do it

Enabling NAT in some cases will block utorrent.

[*]Turning off anti-virus is a very bad idea, do not do it

Did i say turn off anti-virus? No, i said disabling your anti-virus firewall.

[*]There isn't a default torrent port

Yes, utorrent does have a default port.

[*]ISPs don't block common ports used by torrent clients and even if they did, giving them a ring would be an utter waste of a phone call

ISP's do block certain ports sometimes: http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=22965

Yes, ring them, they will be able to sort it out for you and unblock the port which is being affected, or go on live chat to them.

Macky you do not have some very good knowledge of bitorrent do you.:icon_bigg

I just cannot be bothered demonstrating your ignorance fludie, you are doing well enough yourself.
Everything you've just posted is utter bollocks, I could go through it point by point but it really isn't worth it, you won't learn anything from it.

Just admit it for once, you are wrong end of.

I can see torrents aint your strongest part.

Wrong about what?

I never claimed it was my strongest 'part', but at least I know what I'm talking about. You clearly haven't the first notion.

:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

You haven't demonstrated any knowledge of torrents.
Just because you like to make a big deal out of using torrent software to download things that would otherwise cost money doesn't mean that you know a lot about torrents.

Most people with internet access have used torrent software, it's not an arcane, esoteric secret that only bad boys know about
At a guess, I'd say your 'expert' knowledge is regurgitated second-hand nonsense that you didn't quite understand when you read it on somebody's Bebo page.
