i saw it on friday and it was amazing to say the least. i think it took the piss out of americans more than it did the kazachs (spelling) ****ing brilliant how he makes them look so awfull.
the nude wrestling scene is one of the most horrific/hillarious things i have ever witnessed. i loved it that people walked out halfway through in disgust of his exploits and extreme views on jews. these films need to be made so we can take the piss out of ourselves because lets admit the whole worlds a ****ed up place full of ****ed up people and ****ed up releigions who all take themselves too seriously.

I don't understand how people find Alf Garnett offensive and deem white people in the 70's wearing "boot polish" as racist.
Yet this "monstrocity" of a "character" is considered funny. Hyopcritical if you ask me.

Funnily enough it was a point made on Newsnight Review who said what would everyone think if Jim Davidson's 'Chalkie' character was made into a film because both characters are give or take the same.
People felt more angered by Garnett because it was an Englishmen talking about English things, it concerned people you knew and seen in the street.
Borat is raising laughs at a culture which is backwards and doesnt affected the normal British person.
Secondly the boot polish thing was a utter disgrace, because IMO the comedians didnt attempt to raise laughs by the comedians jokey appearance, they attempted to raise laughs at the way he spoke and what spoke about which was stereotypical nonsense.

I wasnt looking for an argument, I just want to know why Borat is so offensive to you?
Garnett is offensive to me because of stereotypical picture it painted of black people which went too far for a parody and I personally knew was untrue.
In this line of thinking, Borat is not offensive to me because despite the stereotypical picture painted of Kazahstan, I havent a clue what Kazahstan is actually like and I only know the stereotypical idea. So although me being ignorant,couldnt be bothered abour Kazahstanis getting it ripped out of them but I am offended by the British Black people being painted in a horrible, stereotypical fashion.

to be honest i really think the Kazahstanis were just a vehicle for SBC to show how retarded america is more than anything. the guy did history and politics at cambridge so he knows what hes talking about. im grown up enough to realise that Kazahstanis probably arn't what they are portayed to be in the film. it was americas attitude and reaction that was most alarming.
the jew thing was obviously not serious. one thing that does piss me off however is that nothing like this could ever be made about or include muslims because of the reprocusions etc, i dont see any jew burning the usa or union jack over this film.

Garnett is supposed to offensive, but the programme isn't.
His views in the show are extreme and laughable and the reaction of the people he meets reflect this eg His daughter marrying Tony Booth etc.
Incidentally Warren Mitchell is jewish himself so I find it difficult to find Garnett and not Borat offensive. I understand your post above, but it makes no sense to me at all.
People that find Borat offensive because it portrays Kazachstan in a poor light are really missing the point of the character and the film in general.
