the rumour up here is that burley resigned as hes going to be hearts head coach, possibly working under nevio scala as director of football, whatever that means. i dont know anything about george burley, what knowlede can u lovely ppl furnish me with?

IMO a very good manager, took Ipswich into the prem then into europe the following season, but had a poor season in the league and Ipswich got rid before he had a chance to turn it around again. Took over at Derby when they were in the sh*t and after avoiding relegation took them into the playoffs this year with spending not alot and getting the team playing a bit of football (although that was not evident when they came down here )
You could do alot worse.

At the time Micky left I wanted Burley, he has an excellent pedigree in this division, his teams play decent football and he encourages the younger players, I am glad however we got Levein. But I cannot believe the sheep have allowed him to walk away it's not like he is going to a bigger club in either Hearts or Millwall. As much as we all detest Derby it has to be said Burley has turned the club around in such a short space of time, I cannot see how or who they will replace him with. Could be a forest repeat next season as I would be very surprised to see the likes of Rasiak and Idiakez hanging around now.

Its a crap manager who is moved 'upstairs' to avoid the club the embarrasment of sacking him. ;-)

a director of football is brought in if the clubs reputation is shit, and it needs a big name or face to 'polish turds' for the club. bassett was a one at our club because we couldnt afford his pay off, i think we could of moved him to carpark attendant or something less public as i am sure he did the reverse of my first comment
