Directions
M1 to junction 42
M62 to junction 24
A629 to Halifax
A646 to Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and towards Burnley, finally entering Burnley on the A671

Just over 130 miles - almost 100 miles of which is on motorway. About 2½ hours.

Pubs
For a cheap drink and cheap food, try the 110 Club in Yorkshire Street quite close to the ground. It's a private club, but you'll get signed in for 20p and save more than that on your first pint.

A little further away are the Sparrow Hawk and the Talbot, opposite each other in Church Street - both serve away fans with no problem.

If you're looking for a Brewers Fayre type meal (with parking during the game!), you need the Queen Victoria in Queen Victoria Road - about a 10-minute walk from the ground.

Trains
Burnley Manchester Road is the closest station to the ground, around 15 minutes walk away.

The standard walk up return fare is £53.10
There are cheaper advance tickets available that would cost £41.50, but that would mean an early start from Leicester.

I'm looking into alternatives and will add them to the thread later.

I want to go quite a lot.

But I won't know until I am out of plaster on the 17th whether I can drive. I want to avoid Fox Travel as it was living hell on Saturday virtually destroying my enjoyment and tapping in Leicester to Burnley on national rail says I am looking at £40 plus. Any suggestions of breaking up the train fare or something similar? Bus?

If you can find a cheap way to get to Sheffield...

Megatrain have tickets from Sheffield to Leicester for £1, on the 20:27

The standard return fare from Sheffield to Burnley (via Leeds) is £19.60

So that's a total of £20.60 plus whatever it costs to get to Sheffield, I'm still looking for the cheapest way to do that part of the journey.

National Express coach to Sheffield - £10.70 (leaves Leicester at 7:55, gets to Sheffield at 10:10)

Return train from Sheffield to Burnley Manchester Road - £19.60
There's a 10:21 from Sheffield, arriving at Burnley at 12:57. Or the 11:21, arriving at 13:57. Both involve a change of trains at Leeds. No need to buy the ticket in advance.

Return train from Burnley to Sheffield, leaves Burnley at 17:26, gets to Sheffield at 19:50. Again you need to change at Leeds.

Megatrain ticket from Sheffield to Leicester on the 20:27. £1 plus 50p booking fee.

Total cost £31.80 - less if you have a railcard.

I've got a student ticket but don't have an NUS card. Hope they don't ask me to produce one.

Good luck.

?

I'll just e-mail their ticket office, tell them to make the turnstile operators aware that so-so students might try it on, and to look out for the one that looks like Rodders out of only fools and horses :icon_wink

Ahaah! Won't happen, you don't dare.

Hey NF, you and Boc sharing a hotel room there again, and rekindling bygone memories?

My sons Student card expired on 31st July and he doesn't get a new one until he goes back at the start of September. So I imagine there will be quite a few "students" who will not have a valid Student card.
So if some smartarse at Burnley is aware of this it wont matter if NF rings or not they will be asking knowing that the cards will not be available or those held may not be valid as having expired a few weeks ago.
