Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson is making a £4million-plus bid to bring Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome to his big-spending club.

Eriksson has turned to Jerome after missing out on Bristol City forward Nicky Maynard - and he hopes the financial power of the Foxes will persuade hard-up Blues to sell.

Jerome can leave Birmingham following their relegation from the Premier League and is hoping for a return to top-flight football, with Stoke, Fulham and Bolton interested in him.

However, ambitious Leicester are offering top contracts to players - as well as huge fees - and want to try to talk Jerome into joining their push for promotion back to the Premier League.

Eriksson has already beaten off top-flight clubs to sign Reading centre-half Matt Mills this summer and is confident he can land Jerome, too.

Dunno about this. My gut instinct is that he is another dud.... had a good ratio in his time with Cardiff but piss poor 37 in 180 for Birmingham.

I'd probably prefer him to Maynard to be honest!

Think he's a good player who could easily be top scorer in the league this season. Think Birmingham would want to resist selling him to us as much as possible though, because they won't want to lose him to one of their main promotion rivals.

I don't think Birmingham have had full revenge yet for us selling them a crocked Muzzy Izzet - we've had Stephen Clemence, DJ and now potentially another expensive flop in Cameron Jerome. Frankly, if we offer them serious money I think they'll snatch our hands off.
