Jeez, I thought Stringer was bad, but at least he showed emotion in his voice.
When City scored their first goal, it took a few seconds to realise what had happened.
Such a monotone voice.

4-4-2 is certainly an even-keeled commentator. Probably trying to remedy Stringers' OTT reactions.

I'd still rather have 4-4-2...it's calming.

If you think 4-4-2 has a boring voice then I hope you never hear mine.

I thought it was terrible but I like Stringer anyway.

Seemed completely emotionless and I also had to wait a while to know if we had scored or not.

Will be happy with Stringer back but luckily going on Saturday so don't have to listen to the radio comms.

JB was wondering if Forest could pull a late winner from their last corner. Whose side is he on??

The 5 Live commentary was from the guy who is from Radio Nottingham. He's actually not been too bad and not so bias as I would have thought. John McGovern not as bad as Youngy either.
But like a few others with 4-4-2 I wasn't sure we had scored on either goal.

I completely agree, I barely knew we had scored. With Stringer I get excited when we are on the attack never mind scoring!
With Stringer it sounds like we score in every other attack. 442 was a bit bland at both goals today.

Insipid commentary of the worst order, I too hardly realised we had scored.

Didn't hear it but I think people are being a little harsh on the bloke, anyone would sound mundane compared the the Springer Spaniel of the commentary world.

Jason Bourne

I wonder if, and how much, Jason's commentary style has been influenced by the frequent criticism in these parts of Ian Stringer's over-enthusiastic ranting.

I heared it and overall performance was good. too little excitement for the goals though.

I am a Stringer fan. Yes, he can be an irritating plonker at times but his enthusiasm is second to none.

I am not saying I would have done any better than Jason Bourne in his position last night, but I just didn't get the same excitement.

This game was arguably one of our bigger games this season, coming towards the end of the season away at a local rival who is also battling for promotion. As I was not there and listening on the radio, you want the person who you are listening to to be excitable, to be enthusiastic and to create drama even if the match was drab (which it evidently wasn't).

With Stringer you can tell by how he is speaking where the ball is on the pitch, how dangerous our/their attack is, how close/far we/they were from scoring. Stringer makes (almost) every game feel like it's 7-6 even if it's 0-0.

Now I understand that it isn't Jason's usual role and it is sometimes difficult to do something you are not used to, but if (as I assume) he's a City fan, then I struggle to find how he couldn't have been a little more excitable commentating on his team away at a local rival.

Listened to him on the 'boot room' tonight on RL. An improvement on Stringer's bollocks by about a million per cent, and his interviews with Pearson and others were excellent. Good presenter IMO.
