I think that was down to FFP - if we signed Silva without selling as well there is no way we would have met FFP.

So, £189m before tickets, sponsorship, etc. And we made operating profits of £26m and £16m in our two previous Premier League seasons.

Our latest published wage bill was £80m (title winning year, including some big contract hikes). I imagine that it's around £100m now.

Surely we're absolutely minted? Our net spend in the summer was only £25-£30m.
