Wonder if the money saved may enable the club to bring in an experienced coach to assist RK or could this allow a backroom reshuffle that enables RK to return to the Assistant Manager's role and for a new man to be bought in, just an opinion following recent rumours and speculation that Kelly had approached the board about reverting back to his previous role in favour of a new manager being bought in.

I guess the board have thought "Well, being as we aint giving you any more money to find and buy players, we may as well get rid of the scout"

I don't think it has been a case of the club getting rid - more that the new bloke hadn;t settled and found something else that he would rather be doing.

Nor do I think that the maoney saved on a scout - even a Chief Scout - would pay for anything much more than another scout.

But it may allow some flexibility within the budget to reshuffle the backroom staff. I would imagine that if RK were to step down to a coaching / Assistant Manager role (if the rumours / speculation are true) then he would also have to take a salary cut.

What speculation PFK?

It was on the Rivals Site a few weeks back, that RK had gone to the board and suggested that he revert back to his Assistant Manager / Coaching role and the club bring in a more experienced Manager, the speculation was that RK had recommended McGhee.

Bloody hell, really? That's a nightmare. That cannot breed confidence in the players.

Being on the Rivals site doesn't necessarily make it true. But even it being there could be unsettling.

Don't panic Alex, it is pure speculation there is no has been confirmation either way as to the credibility of the information.

surely the role of chief scout also involves watching future opposition not just looking at potential signings?

This role has served a dual purpose, as we now have to shop in the lower divisions it has enabled the Chief Scout to watch League one players but also scout next seasons opposition :icon_lol:

You mean the 3 promoted clubs I presume?? :icon_wink

I expect that the exact requirements of the job will vary from club to club but I wouldn't have thought that it was a primary function of a scout.
