I have a tab delimited file which contains chinese characters.
I want to convert this to a .csv file.

When I open the file up in excel, then save it as a .csv, when I open it in notepad, the chinese characters have all changed to '?'s.

How do I prevent the chinese characters changing into a question mark?

Have you installed system support for that Language? :102:

not sure, I think we got round it once by opening a blank .csv in notepad, saving it as unicode, reopening the .csv in excel and then pasting the data in but that's not working now.

Any other ideas?

try doing it in Access?

not got access mate.

not got access mate.

access 2007 has a free demo version for a month...not sure if it'll do the job

is it a one off or a continuing process?

one off but can't download any trials, etc.
is there no other way to do it?
