Scottish FA said:UNDER 19s START WITH A VICTORY Tuesday, 06 Dec 2005
Scotland Under 19s made a great start to their Portuguese double header by winning their opening match 3-1 in Lisbon this afternoon. Despite losing the opening goal, Scotland came back strongly to win the match with two goals in the last ten minutes.
In a hard fought game, it took an hour for the first goal to come, and it went to Portugal. However, Dundee United's Garry Kenneth fired home the equaliser five minutes later. Scotland surged forward and Leicester City striker Jamie Graham scored twice in the last ten minutes, after missing some good opportunities earlier.
Six players who featured today will now return home as they are required for first team duty with their clubs this weekend: Greg Ross (Dunfermline), Lee Wallace (Hearts), Garry Kenneth (Dundee Utd), Jamie McCluskey (Hibs), David Goodwillie (Dundee Utd) and Craig O'Reilly (Dundee). But this means that all the players in the squad will get the opportunity to show coaches Tommy Wilson and Archie Gemmill what they are capable of in the second match on Thursday afternoon.
