We have kept 8 clean sheets so far, below those game are listed with the starting back 4 for each game.

Interesting Notes:

Johansson has been involved in every clean sheet, 4 as LB, 4 as CB

Maybury has been involved in all but 1. 6 as RB 1 as LB

Not sure what this reveals, but it might effect your opinions on our best back 4?

13 August - Ipswich

Maybury McCarthy Johansson Gilbert

23 August - Bury (league cup)

Stearman Johansson Gerrbrand Maybury

10 September - Sheffield Wednesday

Maybury Johansson Dublin Sheehan

17 September - Wolves

Maybury McCarthy Dublin Johansson

27 September - Brighton

Stearman McCarthy Johansson Kisnorbo

26 October - Cardiff (league cup)

Maybury McCarthy Gerrbrand Johansson

29 October - Preston

Maybury McCarthy Gerrbrand Johansson

5 November - Southampton

Maybury McCarthy Gerrbrand Johansson

Interesting stats Feriol.

I bet MK's got something to say about clean sheets:icon_roll

Clearly Johansson and Maybury should be the first names in the back 4. :icon_wink ;)

McCarthy has played in 6 and Gerrbrand in 4.

From the players with the most clean sheets our 'cleanest' back 4 is

Maybury McCarthy Gerrbrand Johansson.

These players have been effective as a unit together 3 times.

Is now the time to try Stearman at centre back?

i would like to see him involved. but alongside who? McCarthy would be my choice.

For me our achilles heel is still left back, we look solid with stearman or maybury on the right, any 2 from mccarthy, johansson, stearman or Gerrbrand in the centre, leaving maybury and johannsson to look dodgy as fook on the left.

Horse bolted and all that, but why did we sell stewart? Then again i suppose the crowd and 'big dion' would have held him personally responsible for our plight.

I still think he needs to bulk up abit more before he plays centre back.

Anyway he is doing a good job at Right back for now.

I agree, he is our best right back IMO but if Maybury must play I'd prefer to see him at right back than left back.

Maybury Stearman McCarthy Johansson

?????

i would say thats as good as we can do. but i would think perhaps put stearman between paddy and nils, Stearman is still in-experienced in the first team. and at centre back, it would help to have the nils nearby i think.

Come on, Jordan Stewart was no left-back either, it's the one position I hope we're still looking to recruit in. As for Stearman, I really do not understand why he wants to play centre-half, if he's 18 and being looking at for the u-21 side it just goes to show he has the potential to be the best right back in the country.

I thought this thread was going to be about Blackpool Guest Houses.

... or possibly not. Blackpool are now in one of the League One relegation places.

As long as kisnorbo doesn't play, I'm happy.

Out of the possibilities at the back:

Clean sheets / Games Played

Douglas 6 / 28
Henderson 2 / 5
Stearman 2 / 19
McCarthy 6 / 26
Johannsson 8 / 26
Maybury 7 / 27
Gerrbrand 4 / 12
Sheehan 1 / 3

So the stats would suggest Henderson, Maybury, Gerrbrand, Johansson, Sheehan, but given how few games Sheehan has played and how well Stearman has played, Henderson, Stearman, McCarthy, Gerrbrand, Johansson seems a better choice.

I don't really understand why people are trying to move Stearman. Yes we have a problem in midfield and I'm sure he could do a job but he's been playing very well when he's been playing at right back, defending well and providing a great option down the right when we're going forward. If it ain't broke...

To be honest, these stats mean absolutely feck all.
