There are suggestions, on another forum, that Connolly picked up his fifth booking today and as such would miss the Blackburn. Anyone know the truth. :? :? ;-)

Connolly then picked up his fifth booking of the season when he felled Gary Cahill.

So how quickly after this fifth booking do you miss a game :?: Will he miss the Blackburn game :?:

We will have to wait for the great Sage to return. ;-)

I've returned!

He shouldn't be suspended.

Anyone who reaches 5 yellow cards from 1st March onwards doesn't get suspended, they just get a letter telling them to behave.

Not exactly be a great loss, though, would it ?

The FA's rule that covers this:

7. PUNISHMENTS – Relating to First Team Competitive Matches
(a) CAUTIONS ADMINISTERED ON THE FIELD OF PLAY
(i) If a Player accumulates five recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day in February in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: -
One First Team Match

(ii) If a Player accumulates five recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Warned as to his Future Conduct”

(iii) A Player who has already been subject to disciplinary action as a result of recording five cautions and then proceeds to record a further five cautions during the same Season, will be subject to the following punishments: -

(iv) If a Player accumulates ten recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the second Sunday of April in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering:-
Two First Team matches

(v) If a Player accumulates ten recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Severely Censured and Warned as to his future Conduct”

(vi) If a Player accumulates 15 recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening date of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - Three First Team matches

(vii) A Player who has already been subject to disciplinary action as a result of recording five, ten and 15 cautions, and who goes on to record 20 cautions in FTCM in the same Season, shall be required to attend a meeting of a Disciplinary Commission, within seven days of the date of the last caution. The Members of a Commission will have the power to deal with the Player in such manner as they deem fit. The same procedure will apply for every further five cautions recorded against that Player.

(viii) Any period of suspension arising from recording cautions will commence on the seventh day following the date of his last offence. The suspension will cover all approved First Team matches until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed the number of matches appropriate to the punishment in approved Competitions during the period covered by its opening league match and ending with the final match in which the Club is playing in an approved domestic Competition.

(ix) Any period of suspension or part thereof which remains outstanding at the end of a Season must be served at the commencement of the next following Season.

Even if the end of February deadline (for 5 cautions) had not saved him, he still would not have missed the Blackburn game through suspension. Quoting from the FA disciplinary prcedures, "Any period of suspension arising from recording cautions will commence on the seventh day following the date of [the] last offence."

The real question is - do we want the clueless donkey to play against Blackburn?

I do like Connolly, but I think he has lost his cutting edge and I have to agree with you Joe :smt006

Jansen? Tosser but would score :?:

Is that David "Kid" Jansen the old timer DJ

I agree he is a tosser, but not sure whether he could score the goals to keep us up

Would score more than Connolly, though...............

Matt Jansen is hardly a Prolific Goalscorer,he's more of A Connolly type player IMO.We want someone who just puts the ball in the net, they don't have to be any fecking good or create anything. We have the players to 'create' the chances i.e Williams.Hughes,Joey,Gillespie 'Tiatto etc but what we desperately need is someone to score the scruffy goals, the tap ins etc.Doesn't have to be long term just get someone for the rest of the season and sort it long term in the future. But Who? Pederson can't get a game for Bolton he'd do the job, what we really should have done is got Rob Hulse before Leeds did, proven goalscorer at this level.Maybe Jeffers is out of our League but that type of player would be fine.I like Connolly as a Player but as a Striker he's just not the answer.IF he scores one then there is no saying he'll score another one for another 2 months, stick him out on the wing or let it roam but for a Goalscorer he will never score consistently IMO

I've told you before

The saviour of our season will be Nathan Blake, ably assisted by Lee Morris

Pedersen would be ideal. Surely Bolton would want to loan him out as they want rid, might as well get him off their wage bill until the end of the season.
