The season kicks off again in 1 month, there is little in the way of transfer activity even for the teams who are in the early stages of the european competitions.

is this a sign that football is in a worse state than we thought? (the lack of activity in other business sectors would be seen as an indication of dire future ahead).

As someone pointed out in another thread, contracts run until the end of June so transfer activity doesn't get into full swing until July. I'm surprised no-one remembers this from last season...or the season before...or the seaon before etc.

They can but that doesn't make my second point less valid, that proper transfer activity doesn't happen until July, we probably have been in talks with players in Jaunary, we've just not heard about it, half the players we sign we probably won't have heard anything about in the press until it happens.

Apologies for the heart attacks ,

when I said a month I was meaning the champions league qualifiers that all kick off on july 12th (as reported for liverpool - is this the stage where Man utd start as well?)

the next two months are good for pre season training to chase eggs again next season - hopefully this year I will avoid a 2 year lay off with a back injury
