If the rumours I'm hearing today are to be believed you won't wait long........there was a lot of rumour before regarding McGhee coming back, now the rumour is that RK has suggested to the board McGhee comes in as manager with him stepping down to senior coach, a role he prefers. RK and Stowell worked for McGhee at Wolves, so happy families and a role RK is more comfortable with.

Now before anyone gets on their high horse about previous rumours posted by GT Fox, please do not shoot the messenger, I am merely posting this on this board for information purposes, I am not saying this 100% correct or anything.

If we can't afford a loan signing then how can we afford a new Manager? Not on my high horse but complete horeshit if you ask me.

No thanks - I would rather have Kelly stearing the ship. I do think Kelly would be more suited to being assistant manager but I think bringing McGhee in as manager would be a backwards step.. and we seem to be taking enough of those at the minute.

Always worth posting an entertaining rumour PFKAKTF but as Lboro said the main problem with this is even if it was realistic McGhee just isn't a good manager.

Has he?

Excellent record at Reading and Millwall, he won more than he lost at Wolves, his record for us was good in this division, and he got Brighton promoted in his first season.

But he left us for a 'sleeping giant' which appears to be still asleep

I think that's the problem we'd have if he came back here. Fans would be on his back right from the start for the way he left us.

We did play some good football under him, probably more entertaining than it was under MON,not as succesful I admit.

To be honest I didn't realise he'd done so well at his most recent clubs. Wolves stuck in my mind I think.

I tend to agree with Webbo, his record has been very good at this level apart from Brighton, although it was always going to be tough to keep them in this division.

Knows this division inside out and has always approached the game in the right way, encourages attractive passing football.

Wouldnt be the worse appointment, although his past may be too big a bridge to build.

was it not alex ferguson who advised him to move? and did nt he apologise to the fans and say that he made a huge mistake? not sure if he would make an impact, the fact is we need more mid feild players good rumour though!

I know some Brighton fans were disappointed with his dismissal. As they reckon with the right finicial support which would have came with Falmer, he would have done better than he could at the time.

I dont think I would trust him after his 'running away' from the City job. Hes a good manager but his face wouldnt fit. I would much prefer Graydon working along side Kelly and Stowell again.

His tactics and sideways passes on the halfway line had been found-out when he left us, he is barely a champoinship standard manager let alone prem. His signings were debatable and i was happy that he was gone.

Also the song dedicated to him along the tune of cheer up sleepy jean is one of perosnal favourites, i would find it difficult not to sing it to him even if he were our manager!! Mcghee is a massive step backwards IMO!!

I can see why you were happy he went, we were only second in the division at the time, which was totally unacceptable :icon_roll

I thought his signings were very good, Mark Robins, Steve Corica, Scott Taylor, Mike Galloway, Garry Parker, Pontus Kaamark were all very good signings IMO.

Whilst Jamie Lawrence and Franck Rolling were more than adequate.

Only Kalac was what you would label a flop.

Most of those signings are often perceived as MON signings. I think people often think that McG's days were a while ago. McGhee left us second, we appointed O'Neill who went on a terrible run of form and then we clicked into place. MON's signings that season were Claridge, Izzet and Lennon. Just need for a goalscorer and a change-around in midfield.
