Leicester manager Craig Levein has dismissed the club's last two defeats as freak results, despite the Foxes' perilous Championship position.

With City lying third-bottom after back-to-back losses against Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff, fans have begun calling for the Scot's dismissal.

But Levein said: "Losing to Cardiff was a sucker-punch to everyone. We've lost our last two games to absolute wonder goals and that isn't going to happen every week - it's important we recognise that.

"We need to keep believing in what we're doing and there a lot of very encouraging things which were hidden by the result.

"So long as we keep working as hard as we have been, keep focussing, concentrating and believing in ourselves then there's a great opportunity to get out of the position we're in."

We've just lost or drawn ALL of the great opportunities to get out of the position. This man has lost the plot!

I understand what he is trying to say to be honest. It's smelling like clutching at straws don't it!

Its not as if CL is going to say "We're shit and the players are all crap and so whats the point".

True, but he also shouldn't come out and talk such b******s.

The 3 defeats against Norwich, Reading and Palace where OK according to his wisdom, because they were against teams in form.
The defeats against Sheff Weds and Cardiff were 'freak results' because of wonder goals.
We drew against the bottom two teams after going a goal down.

From which match situations - sorry 'great opportunities' - are we capable of taking 3 points?

What gets me if CL says we lost to "wonder goals" being scored against us by teams we should really be beating, why are we not scoring MORE goals against these teams. If we put 2 or 3 goals in against them then these "wonder" goals count for nothing, we win 2-1 3-1 3-2....still 3 points

I find his comments baffling, we didnt lose to Sheff Wed because of a wonder goal, we lost because we were poor and second best all over the park, I didnt see the Cardiff game so I cannot comment, but it should not matter the calibre of goal scored against us, what should matter is that we have the quality, passion and commitment to overcome these setbacks and be able to go on and get results.

You don't know how lucky you are...:icon_conf

Sheff Wed was bad, this Saturday was worse. We lost both those games because the teams we were playing scored more times than we did. He has to tighten his defense up or make his attack more effective.

sorry Yorky "Saturday was worse, Sheff Wed was bad"......:icon_bigg

To be honest IMO they were both dire. I say Cardiff at home was worse because we know we are crap away and most of our points have come from home games, so there is a little bit more expectation at home games..

i think the defeat at sheff weds is far worse than saturdays we have no pressure (or not as much) away from home and therefore the opportunity to relax against a team within touching distance of ourselves the pressure should have been on wednesday but there wasnt any at least on saturday we lost to a team chasing the play offs which i think is easier to bear than losing the weekend before

your right YV the sheff wed game should have been good for the players still buzzzing from the cup win   but no we get one goal then drop our heads and lose it 2-1 ffs

why they didnt keep playing like they did in the cup game i just dont know

are we the only team to do this ,i think so one of you mite know:confused:
