Is the title of this thread just another cop out by CL, is it true or should he take a leaf out of Gary Player's book when he(GP) said "the more I practice, the luckier it get". :icon_eek: :102: ;)

We played well today, IMO our best performance for a number of weeks, we were unfortunate as it appears that one of Elvis's two disallowed goals was in fact onside, we created chances and should have won, however in the first half we created very little and Derby had the best of the attacking play and possession.

I wouldnt say we were unlucky, we were incapable of killing the game off, we missed several chances and we did seem to want to walk the ball in, I felt CL made an unnecessary substitution when he replaced Hammond with De Vries, IMO we lost a little of our attacking impetus, not because De Vries was poor but because the combination of Hume and Hammond was proving a real handful and the Derby defence were being run ragged because of their pace and movement especially when Smith was introduced, I felt we had them on the ropes at that point and I actually felt we were capable of scoring a couple of goals. Also we switched off at a key moment, the defence had been excellent all game but in the last minute we lost concentration and bang we concede the equaliser.

So no I wouldnt say we were unlucky, I felt today sums our season up, we are unable to close games out and we are prone to lapses of concentration that gifts goals to the opposition, that isnt bad luck, that is because our technical and mental skills are not good or strong enough to enable us to win matches at this level, these are traits that CL and his coaching staff have to work on.

Leicester manager Craig Levein:
"In normal circumstances a point away from home would be seen as a good point.
"But after taking the lead with a few minutes to go we're disappointed not to have won.

"Yet again we've played well but not got what we deserved and that's beginning to sound monotonous."

You are right craig, it is beggining to sound monotonous...

Would you describe this post as a positive or negative post ? I ask this as it does give me some hope and I wondered whether that was the intention ? :102: ;)

Positive, we played well and things look very good for the future, but what yesterday did do was sum up where we do need to work on and improve, IMO Hume and Hammond will score goals at this level if given a decent run together and I think that we are not that far away from being a good side capable of mounting a challenge for the top 8, but we need to cut out the lapses in concentration and we need to work on closing games out that way we will covert some of these draws into victories.

The fustrating thing for me about yesterday was that apart from the last minute we had defended superbly, with Dublin immense and Kisnorbo having an excellent game, but we couldnt hold out and also we had opportunities to kill the game off but we either wasted the chance or we overplayed. But overall it was a good positive performance that will however given CL food for thought and hopefully over the international break we can work on improving ourselves in these areas.

I think people may be guilty of judging Kisnorbo either too quickly or on what Hearts fans on here have posted about him rather than seeing what he does in a Leicester shirt instead.
As regards CL's excuses,I think most managers tend to say they were unlucky whenever they lose by the odd goal or draw.We are short on confidence and going out and saying we were awful isn't going to help matters even if it's true.

Kisborno does up across as a plank though.

I laughed when I read an article about him entitled 'white line fever'. Hope its not something going around the dressing room. Could explain why DeVries gets so many chances!;) :icon_lol:

and I think we're no where remotely near being a good side.....yet.

The uncomfortable fact is that this was an ideal time to play Derby and take three points. They are in total disaray and even included a goalkeeper approaching pensionable age.

If they are in dissary, then what are we? :icon_eek:

A little thing I found funny at Oadby on Saturday. Some oldboy shouted at the striker 'Go on! You cant run! Why dont you go and stiff another line, Warner!'

Hope he wasnt trying to suggest Oadby's team is partial to a sniff of the boogle.

I am not saying we are a team of world beaters, but I am unwilling to accept we are a shambles either, what I am saying is if CL can work and improve on a couple of key aspects we are not far away from being a side capable of mounting a challenge, remember in this division there is little to seperate anybody from say 4th to 18th, our problem has been our inability to close out or kill games off.

I have seen most of our games this season, and whilst our shortcomings are blatantly obvious, there are other areas where we are as good as many of the teams in this division, we just need to develop that killer instinct we have so sadly lacked.

So in a nutshell, we need some B@stard who can stick it in the onion bag! :icon_lol:

craig levein and the phrase we were unlucky is started to sound like that wasn't a micky adams team out there today............

Winners make their own luck. :icon_sad:

When you think about it it is a daft excuse. Freqently we seem to create 6-7 scoreable chances a game, convert 0, but are deemed to have been 'unlucky' in post match interviews.

At what point do we face the realisation that perhaps what we do in front of goal is not good enough?

If we constantly bury our heads in the sand by using the convinient excuse that we are 'unlucky', there will come a point where we will need a lot more than luck to get us out of trouble! We need a remedy in the form of actions.

Words can be fun, but unlike sticks and stones they don't hurt anyone...its time we hurt some of the teams in this league craig!

He never actually said we were unlucky though did he, just that he felt we did enough to win the game, which we probably did.

We didn't do enough though did we? or we would have 3 points. Therefore saying we did enough to win the game but didn't is surely saying we were unlucky (again)???

Derby had enough clear cut chances to have had the game wrapped up after an hour but couldn't hit the target, were they unlucky too??? Maybe everbody who isn't in the play off positions is unlucky and when the luck evens itself out over the season we will all swap positions???

It's getting boring. We aren't unlucky, we simply are not good enough to compete in this league. We are staring a relegation battle in the face and the sooner people realise that the better.
