some people say he wants the job ,others say he is going to help the board find a replacement.
please....please....please.... neither,we will be back to square 1 with this clown.

I think Dave Bassett is more than capable at this level, infact his record is second to none, and specialises in clubs with tight budgets.

I would like to see him given the job until the end of the season. Then we can reasses the situation when more managers should be available and where the new manager will have a bit of money to spend, a bit of time to spend it and a pre season to get to know the existing players and install his own style on the team.

If we appointed a unproven manager in the middle of the season it could be disastrous. The manager would be unable to bring any players in and would not have the time to sort things out. For example, he would not know his best starting 11 for 5 games or so which would result in us dropping potentially crucial points.

Dave Bassett knows the players and I am sure he would do a reasonable job.

Everyone seems to be opposed to Dave Bassett but noone has said why.

dave bassett will not change a thing ,the usual crap will still be served up week in/ week out,thats why adams lost some of the fans in the first place.

we need a new face ,bassetts been hands on or involved for the last 5 years,so what will he change, nothing in my opinion.theres no point in going 1 step forward 2 back.

Because his sides play unimaginative - kick & rush 'football';
Because he is ultimately unsuccessful;
Because it would be a wasted season when the club would not move forward;
Because he is a classic 'yesterday's man'.

1. I doubt you were complaining 2 seasons ago
2. Unsuccesful? He has won more promotions than any other manager
3. But I doubt we would move backwards which might happen if we gamble on a unexperienced man halfway through a season. We have just lost a very talented manager so moving the club forward at such a turbulent time is a very difficult task.
4. What do you mean by this? Why would this make him unsuccesful?

so he is a saviour? and he stood by whilst MA scratched his arse and did nothing ? :roll:

Im actually very worried he will get the job, cheapest option, what a step backwards it would be aswell.

I think he is the most realistic prospect of getting the job simply because he's on a contract and we're cheapskates. I certainly wouldn't appoint him but I can see the board's brains (or lack of them) working now

It was obvious Bassett was going to be made caretaker, but too be honest I dont think the board will risk giving Bassett the job long term because of the fans reaction. IMO Bertie will be in charge until the Stoke game then a new manager will be in.

i think there is no problem with Bassett being in charge for the time being, he may not be good at keeping people in the Premiership, but he certainly is good at getting people there... I would be happy if he did a David Pleat, just take charge til end of the season then pass over...

DB will achieve less than ma, look back at when he first joined city, He changed nothing, stuck to the same squad as pt and set us on the downward spiral.

We need a charasmatic manager that has experiance, ambition and can get the best out of the players

I think he could well get the job until the end of the season, with Wilkinson as coach and I may well eat my words here (sort the HP out Ma...) but I'm not sure it won't work...
