Know this was mentioned in the other thread, but worth its own I reckon.

Mercury not really adding anything to what was said on the french website

Boka at Stuttgart, I think we would be better off looking at Mauro Camoranesi who is unhappy there and set to leave there.

Thanks for that valuable insight. Never would've realised that myself

Ah good. Now that you've told me that I can stop wondering what it was that made you think that such a report, emanating as it did from what is essentially a bollocks-rumours site, is worth a thread of its own.

because the other thread is usually for stuff which has no substance at all. Why did Theirry Henry deserve a thread of his own when Sven said we never spoke to him? John Carew? etc

In truth, they didn't. Not sure who started them now but at the time it didn't surprise me that the person had started them. In this case, I am surprised - and that is meant to be a compliment to you (in that I wouldn't normally expect you to start this kind of thread)

Wherever the rumour comes from. Zokora would be a much better defensive midfielder than we have. £11m only a few seasons ago and currently at a top 6 la liga side (so i'd err on the side that it's possibly not true) however Sven is very persuasive and we have another Ivorian on the books..... Not heard of this Boka character.

I'd rather there was no thread for rumours that had no substance at all.

But it's not always easy to tell when a rumour has substance and not just made up or a player's agent trying to get some publicity.

If a rumour comes from a fan site that clearly just makes stuff up it would be more appropriate to put it in the joke thread.

But if something is reported by a newspaper there may be some substance to it and it's worth having its own thread.

Having a thread for each one does no harm. If there's nothing to it it will soon disappear from the front page. I'd rather have a thread for a rumour than have people miss it because it's been added to the end of a thread that's hundreds of posts long.

I think some people forget that not everyone reads every post, and a lot of people pick which threads to read based on the title.
So if the player's name is in the title of a rumour thread people can decide whether or not to open it. If it's at the end of a long thread they might be pissed off if the new posts are complete bollocks, or might miss something interesting because they don't bother reading threads that are usually full of bollocks.

Does it really matter? If someone starts a thread someone starts a thread. Who cares, we don't need rules in place about when and why threads can be started particularly based on the source of the speculation!

Some of us need rules to keep us in line.

Yes.

Astute. I'd usually have to buy the Sun for that sort of insight.

If we had thousands of banal threads dedicated to subjects that shouldn't have their own thread we'd just be looking at Foxestalk.
