Leicester City Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Eduardo Macia as the Club’s Head of Senior Player Recruitment with immediate effect.

Eduardo, 42, has vast experience across a host of leading European football clubs and will join a highly successful existing recruitment structure at Leicester City.

The Spaniard’s experience stretches across spells in La Liga with Valencia, where he worked with current City boss Claudio Ranieri, as well as a spell with Liverpool in the Premier League.

He has also worked with Greek champions Olympiakos, Spanish side Real Betis and Italian giants Fiorentina, all helping him to establish a strong reputation within the game.

Leicester City Director of Football Jon Rudkin said:“Eduardo’s appointment follows an extensive process undertaken by the Football Club, to identify a candidate of outstanding experience that would contribute significantly to the long-term development our player recruitment strategy. His expertise and network of contacts will add considerable strength to our existing team of recruitment staff, whose skill and diligence contributed greatly to a successful summer transfer window.

“To appoint someone of Eduardo’s calibre further highlights the Club’s ambition to strengthen its standing in the game and to realise our owners’ vision of success that is both lasting and sustainable.”

Looks like we'll be targetting young Spaniards rather than young French now then.

Didn't realise Steve Walsh was French?

He wasn't but that was where he had his best set-up. It's quite clear from Macia's CV that he has a better set up in Spain and Italy.

Hopefully this is a good appointment... I don't know why really, but I had a lot more faith in the Spurs guy - he seemed to be of a similar mould and experience to Walsh, plus had done well with Pochettino bringing in players.

This guy seems quite different having been at several biggish clubs that I don't think have the reputation for bringing through great players.

Let's hope it's good - it will be at least a year before we can begin to judge it really.

I didn't realise Mitchel was old and pudgy.

According to a mercury reporter he's been advising the club for some time.

Seems like a second choice to me. I'd be interested to find out the dates of his tenure at those clubs. None have pulled up any trees in recent years really. Valencia have been wank for a couple of years & Liverpool have been wank for a fair while.

Edit: No worries. Was at Anfield under Benitez so we're obviously going to win the Champions League.

Most of our squad had nothing of note on their CVs before last year, including Claudio.

Our back office function is much larger than one person.

That's what I tell all the girls.
