All,

I had a bit of spare time on my hands and decided to look at the last 10 Premier League final tables to ascertain averages, minimums and maximums.

I know some of you find this stuff a bit tragic, but I like stats - particularly as a reference point as to how we are progressing as a club.

Important note: we have already overtaken Derby's all time lowest points tally of 11!!

Excellent use of spreadsheets - loving your work Camberwell!

Only 8 wins for safety then.

My three quick take-aways from this are:

  1. Average a point a game and you will probably stay up.

  2. Keep a positive GD and you will have a top 10 finish.

  3. Our present form would give us a final points total of 68, a European spot in most years!
I have no reason to think we will not maintain our present form. Ranieri will get them better at defending set pieces, so we will do better against better teams. We could have been 3-0 up at half-time against Arsenal. Ranieri can and does make game changing substitutions. Our second XI is nearly as good as our first XI, like against West Ham in the cup recently, so there are plenty of options. With the exception of Krameric, everyone has bought into Fearless Foxes Never Quit and are working hard in training to push the match day squad harder, ready to grab their place. For instance, Inler, Swiss captain with 87 caps, is obviously a very good footballer, but Kante and Drinkwater are keeping him out. Last season no-one would have thought twice about putting Inler in the team ahead of Drinkwater, if he had been here. Yes some of Drinkwater's improvement will be the legacy of Cambiasso, but the whole first team is benefiting from a strong deep squad that are not prepared to just sit and watch. I am sure that this is not a 'blip', 9 easy games to start. The fact that no-one else is winning all their games is very encouraging. Why should we fear Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea? Poorer performing teams than us have beaten them. Bring them on!
