The only thing more boring than watching us play there.

Why would we playing friendlies so soon after the world cup and so soon before the euros and just after the start of the season .

Given England are mostly shite and will remain that way no matter where they play, watching them here is way better than travelling down to watch them at the vile Wembley Stadium.

I'll be taking the kids if it happens.

Brilliant. A post World Cup pre Euro friendly just after the start of the PL season with nobody wanting to risk an injury. Bound to be an absolute belter.

This has now been confirmed.

Leicester City Football Club is delighted to confirm that King Power Stadium will play host to an international friendly between England and Switzerland on Tuesday 11 September, 2018 (KO 8pm).

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions will visit Leicester as part of an important Autumn schedule that will see them get their inaugural UEFA Nations League campaign underway against Spain at Wembley Stadium.

After returning from the FIFA World Cup in Russia and taking on Spain, England will head for Leicester to face the Swiss in a game that could see City stars Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire representing their country in familiar surroundings.

Leicester City Chief Executive Susan Whelan said: “It is a great honour for us to welcome the FA and the England team to our home at King Power Stadium and to have the opportunity to bring international football back to Leicester. The city has played host to some esteemed sporting events in recent years and we’re extremely proud to be able to continue that tradition this September.

“A senior England international is a truly prestigious occasion, made all the more powerful by its potential to inspire Leicester’s future sporting generations, captivated by the opportunity to see the famous Three Lions in their hometown. I am sure it will be an experience they never forget.”

The match will be the second time that King Power Stadium has had the honour of hosting the England senior men’s team, after providing the venue for a 2-1 friendly victory over Serbia & Montenegro in June 2003.

The Three Lions team was managed by former Leicester City boss Sven-Göran Eriksson that day and included a place for fellow former Fox and Club legend Emile Heskey in the starting XI for a victorious England, who also had then LCFC goalkeeper Ian Walker on the bench.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard gave England the lead in the first half before Nenad Jestrović headed home an equaliser for the visitors. After the break however, it was Joe Cole who proved to be the matchwinner with an excellent free kick to make it 2-1.

Ticket information will be made available on TheFA.com in the coming weeks.
