The players had been training all day on the day. I would have thought this is responsible for tired legs kicking in after 30 mins.
I am fairly sure Sven saw this match as an inconvenience and a strange choice of oppoition. Japan wanted to kick lumps out of us and are a far better team than people give them credit for.
Rooney looked poor and was always in the wrong positions. However, he is 18 years old and 18 year olds will have bad games. Inconsistency is no great suprise. I think he has proved he has a big match temprament and is a far better option than Vassel (shiddrs and th thouight of Vassel in a England first 11) or Heskey.
