I was at last night's match, and they did look tired in the second half, something you don't necessarily see on TV because you don't see the off the ball running (or lack of it).

But for the frst half hour England looked really good, and if they can play like that for 90 minutes they could give anyone a decent game.

I'd drop Rooney though. He looked knackered (or just lazy?) after half an hour and didn't do a thing for the rest of the match, every time England broke forward he was 20 yards behind the play.

The players had been training all day on the day. I would have thought this is responsible for tired legs kicking in after 30 mins.

I am fairly sure Sven saw this match as an inconvenience and a strange choice of oppoition. Japan wanted to kick lumps out of us and are a far better team than people give them credit for.

Rooney looked poor and was always in the wrong positions. However, he is 18 years old and 18 year olds will have bad games. Inconsistency is no great suprise. I think he has proved he has a big match temprament and is a far better option than Vassel (shiddrs and th thouight of Vassel in a England first 11) or Heskey.
