European Premier League

I suggest the top 6 should be expelled from the Premier league and replace them with Celtic, Rangers and the top 2 of the Championship, reducing the number of teams. They wouldn't be missed.

I think the best outcome is if one of the Scottish teams get announced as one of the founding clubs.

That will completely devalue all sense of European elite if Arsenal haven't done that already.

I was expecting more from him but to be honest, the managers and players are in a real tough position as they haven't made this decision.

It would help massively though if some of these top players or managers went on record and said they have no interest in winning a glorified friendly tournament.

Very tricky for him, to be fair.

Takes a big man to change things

He's clearly not big enough

It is and it isn't.

Though I do understand why he's dragging his feet on what is an inevitable "yes" or "no".
His job is to manage the team and he’s being dragged into this, when he clearly doesn’t want to be and also clearly disagrees with it. He’s employed by the club, at the minute, so he’s caught between a rock and a hard place, over something that is still very fresh.

I’m by no means his biggest fan, but he’s in an awkward position there. I think he’s been hung out to dry by their owners.

I don't agree. He's been very forthright in his views on the subject before. If he's genuinely principled, he'd have taken up Leeds offer and worn the shirts they'd printed too. If he was as much of a socialist as he's said, he'd not even be at Elland Road and would have told his players not to turn up either.

Remember, the Super League want to begin "as soon as is practicable". Surely that means next season? If so, this Leeds/Liverpool game wouldn't matter one bit to the European places. Liverpool are already qualified because they are Liverpool. And Leicester and West Ham are already out of it because of who we are.

There announcement yesterday affects everything immediately. Klopp cannot pretend that he is preparing his team for a game just as he was before. Everything is instantly different forever.

Feel free to disagree. If Brendan was put in the same position, I’d want him to do his best to concentrate on the game first and deal with the rest of the shit afterwards. I’d also expect him to be mightily pissed off if he was being distracted from doing that job.

The problem here, and I’ve seen it a lot personally in recent years, is that you can’t purport yourself to be a leader of men and moral and ethically sound when it is convenient and a company man when it isn’t.

I’d point to Joe Paterno as the most extreme example, but there are dozens of others across sports alone.

I don’t think he did. I thought it was perfectly clear what he was saying.

Any idea whether Mourinho's sacking was an anything to do with the PPPP? (That's the Paella Pasta Pie Para by the way.)

He would actually go up in my estimations if he had Levi to get ****ed.

Never thought I'd see Kojima do a football remake of Metal Gear Solid 2, but here we are.

It’s really really hard to do the “right” thing in these positions.

And it can be equally hard to know what the right this is.

I've no idea what Klopp did or didn't say but I do hope he didn't become a target for all that is perceived to be wrong. Not his fault that his bosses have opted-in, and one could imagine he knew nothing about it. He's probably pretty pissed off with them right now not least for being put in the cross hairs.

Would make a lovely story but unfortunately he was sacked for being shit
