Just updated to firefox 3 and it doesnt work. It says its a page load error and its failed to connect

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.

* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.

* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

any ideas why this is?

i am using IE and i am connected and dont have a known firewall. It was working fine the other day.

I'm here using good old Firefox 2.0.0.15 and all seems fine.

Is 3 much better? (Seemingly not for you so far Scarbs!)

It is, but if you rely on a lot of extensions it's probably a good idea to wait a while before upgrading as a lot of them won't work in FF3 yet.

It sounds like a firewall problem Scarbs, are you sure you don't have one installed? Is Windows firewall running?

Went on control and turned windows firewall off and reloaded firefox still got the same message.

I have also ticked the little box in the exceptions tab that is meant to allow firefox and it still comes up with the same message.

I also norton but i havent paid for the new subscription after the old one ran out so i cant see how that can play a part.

Norton still works after the subscription expires, it just doesn't obtain new virus definitions and updates. If you're no longer using it and have installed software to replace it, you should uninstall it.

I spent three days playing with a similar problem. The solution, for me, was to turn off the broadband modem (which I usually leave on 24/7) and reboot. I can't explain why, but it cleared the problem. :102:

I am using FF3 on a Mac and although it is extremely RAM heavy for a browser, it's working quite well....
