But the only time you have to go without is the 2 hours in the ground. Even then, it's only your own food and drink you're having to go without, you can buy stuff in the ground.

I go straight from turnstile to seat. However, it was notable to me just how many people congregate in the concourse areas. In the Kop, it was very full of people. I didn't see one person wearing a mask.
It made me consider the absurd rule that people cannot take drinks to their seats. Why not? Surely in the Covid age it is far safer to allow people to buy a drink and take it to their seat than have to stand around in very close proximity to others in the concourse area?

I think it's all alcohol that cannot be taken to seats. Barmy rule.
90% of people drinking in the concourses appear to have a beer in their hand.

You lucky bastards. At Granada CF (La Liga rules) you can take in a plastic bottle of soft drink with the top removed (most fans hide the top somewhere). Inside you can only buy water at high prices, no food. Before the lock down you could buy snacks, water and non-alcoholic beer. Everybody has to wear a mask, seats were initially limited to 40% occupancy, last night it was 60%. Season ticket holders have to put their seats into a lottery to have the allocation "randomly" selected. Yet the Covid-19 rate in Spain is around half that in the UK. Just the trials and tribulations we have to go through for live football at the stadium.

Yep. It's to do with children being influenced isn't it? That's what i thought anyhoo. The children who have to walk through all those drinking in the concourse before watching 2 hours of gambling ads circling the pitch.
No. It was banned due to hooliganism. For some reason they didn't anticipate people getting pissed before the game instead of during it...

For several seasons I played darts at the Swan and Rushes before going to games and took my darts case into games without ever being challenged (my ticket was in L1 for most of this time).
