KPMG have just issued their latest report and we make the top 20 clubs once again, for the 3rd successive year.

https://www.footballbenchmark.com/library/football_clubs_valuation_the_european_elite_2019

We're rated as the 16th biggest club in Europe and 7th biggest club in England. Immediately above us are Inter Milan and West Ham are below but closing the gap.

Our club are valued at £571m based on factors including profitability, potential and stadium ownership.

Those Celtic fans that thought Rodgers was making a move backwards coming to Leicester will see their team are the 30th biggest club in Europe worth £227m.

Looking at the relative progress of sides around us, we have to do two things to maintain our status. Firstly, we urgently need to expand the stadium. Secondly, we need to be getting into Europe more frequently.

As the figures show in this report, whilst we are one of the most valuable clubs in Europe, there is a massive gap between us (7th biggest in England) and Spurs (6th biggest in England) and that gap is growing markedly year on year.

I read today that Spurs had signed a new shirt sponsorship deal worth £40m per season - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49110767. In addition, they are looking to name a stadium sponsor for circa £17.5m per season. That's £57.5m per year of income from these two sources alone.

I'd accept that we would be unlikely to get quite these levels as I'm sure Spurs sell more shirts than us and their stadium has more 'prestige'. However, it does highlight that our owners get this value from Leicester City for next to nothing.

According to our most recent accounts, the entirety of Leicester City income from all sponsorship and advertising for the year was £14.1m.

Aren't we missing a trick here in not offering our kit and stadium naming rights out? If not, why don't King Power pay the going rate?

City have announced two massive new loans recently - one to cover the cost of the training ground and the other for running costs (presumably funding the transfer spending this summer).

King Power are under more scrutiny now and probably feel they deserve a discount after flouting the FFP rules when we got promoted.
