my word, there was a lot of man on man

Might one assume that there was a fair smattering of shirtlifting, chutney-ferretting bum-banditry going on ?

Not like the BBC to concentrate on that, rather than his comedic genius, is it ??

Got it in one! The facts were made to fit around a piece that concentrated on tawdry scenes of simulated homosexual intercourse.
Howerd's career suffered two dips; firstly due to his delivery style (too visual when radio took over from variety) and secondly, due to his material being considered old hat with the re-birth of satire.
These were glued together and Mr. Howerd was shown as a man afraid to admit his homosexuality, who seemed to ask anybody with whom he came into contact, to play with his member. Presumably, this fairy tale (no pun intended) was the Dennis Heymer story.

That there license fee is an absolute feckin' bargain

I saw the steptoe and son drama in this series and thought that was very good, although they gay sceens were fairly abundent in that.

Yes, the Steptoe and the Hancock were well done. I became confused when Hughie Green came onto the screen in a series about the curse of comedy!
Interestingly, the two best impressions of the person portrayed were the two poorest stories.

Out of the four shows so far, the Frankie Howerd one was a real let down.

Im glad I choose to cancel it as it clashed with 2 other things then!
David Walliams was crap in the part, he didn't look, sound or act like Howerd. Unlike the other 3 episodes where the main parts were good likenesses and you knew who they were playing.

Its still on BBC iPlayer Fcukcov

Feckin right he was shite. There was no actual storyline to it just random bumming.

TBH Lazzer, this was the one I was looking forward to, because he had such a varied and complicated life there was material there to put a series on him alone. But I ended up thinking what the feck was that all about. Ok the bloke was gay but thats all they concentrated on and in a bad way too.

Just like Norton and Clary, famous for being a bummer.

I didn't find him funny in the slightest, but unlike the other two dirty twats mentioned above, I do see why others would find him funny. Just not my cup of tea, even if it was to be made by Ringo.
