Want to get rid of Virgin tv, as the swines have put the price up twice in 12 months... :icon_evil I dont want to get sky, as I would need to have a phone line (which I didnt have to get with Virgin when I signed up).

Does anyone have freesat+? I have a sky dish, but according to the bumpf I would need to get a double feed (no idea) from the dish so I could use the recording function...

We've used freesat for years (since I decided that Murdoch isn't getting any money from me) we don't have the + function so only have a single feed but a 4 way lnb to fit to the dish and a few meters of cable won't cost much.

I've noticed that there are a lot more channels listed than compared to freeview - are they mostly crap?

Why do you need to ask? We're talking about TV channels.....

There are a few extra channels and quite a few more +1 channels, don't expect a huge amount more than freeview. Some freeview channels don't appear on freesat so we use both.

Just plugged the Freesat+ box I got off Freecycle into the cable which used to supply the Sky+ box. Bam, working tv. It is all utter shit but the kids & wife seem to find enough worth staring at the television blankly.

I dont fancy fiddling with the sky dish that's on the wall outside, so freeview+ is looking like the best (and cheaper) option.

No fiddling required unless you enjoy fiddling. It really is just 'plug in and go'.

We've got a youview box, free from talktalk and it suits us fine. Records 2 channels at once, you can see all the on demand channels on your TV and you can pay extra for films/Sky channels if you want, no contract.

I have Freesat+. I miss Sky.

Other than E4 and obviously the normal 1-5 channels (well, just BBC and Channel 4 really), the rest are pretty crap for me. No Comedy Central, no Dave, no Sky One and, worst of all, no sports. Gutted.

You can get Dave on freeview, it is mainly rubbish though.

You get more HD channels on Freesat if that is important to you.

Would definitely recommend a Humax box whichever you go for though.

Might be a good idea to buy a used HD Sky+ box, you get all the freesat channels and the addition of Channel 5 HD (which doesn't appear on Freesat), you may also get Dave as this is exclusive to Sky on Sat broadcast.
