For the last two games it's looked like a 4-5-1 system, where it's three defenders against Waghorn. I think we should go back to 4-4-2 system, with Gallagher and Waghorn up front until Fryatt comes back.

We have missed him a lot IMO.

That was inevitable.

Considering he is our main goal scorer, we haven't done too badly without him, but if he can make the play off stages (in the event of us getting there) it could make all the difference.

But frankly, I would guess that he is a long way away from being match fit.

sod that, how's Berrner doing? :-)

I'm dreaming of a Walshie-esque comeback to just make it back to the play-off final and score the winning goals.

If that happened I would stalk him day and night until he accepted my offer to mother children. :icon_wink

Fryatt wherever you may be

will you fit when we go to Wemberley?

will you be fit when beat the ****ing trees?

Matty Fryatt and his injury

I don't think we have.

I think we have done very well since December time when it seemed that the wheels were falling off (starting at Forest), with this run going through the Fryatt injury.

I think Waghorn has really stepped up to the plate and shown he has tremendous potential to become a future Premier League footballer.

I agree. I like Waghorn and all and he has potential, but I'd take Fryatt over him any day. Waghorn is determined but often haphazard. Fryatt may not have the energy (though he still works exceptionally hard) but he is a far more intelligent and creative player for me and has exemplary off the ball skills. The amount of times you see him pointing out where he wants a team-mate to play the ball for him to run onto is countless (and nearly always leads to a goalscoring opportunity), or turning the defence with that brilliant Cruyff-esque turn he always does...

I know people criticised him for missing one-on-ones in the past, but he used to get into one almost every game, whereas none of other strikers ever seem to.

I still can't believe the stick he gets. From what I have seen of us, granted on TV, he is at the heart of everything we do going forward and does so in an intelligent way. His game is not just about scoring goals, although lets face it he scores more than any other striker we've had in the last decade.

We have done well without him, but I think we'd have done even better (in the last two games for instance) with him.

We have...against Wednesday we were crying out for someone like him to occupy the defender a bit more (something a bit more intelligent as opposed to Waghorn's rough and ready approach) and finish off some decent moves.

I agree we have missed him in a few games, but Waghorn offers something different. For instance I could never imagine Fryatt scoring a goal like Waghorns at Donny we he showed a lot of strength and pace.

I would like to see them given a chance together as Fryatts game has evolved a lot where he holds the ball up so well and may be Waghorn running off him will give us something else.

:038::038::038: Well said. He still tops our assist charts as well as our goalscoring charts which says it all.

Our upturn in form happened a couple of games before he got injured due to us changing our style to a 4-3-3, not the game he got injured, because he got injured.

Agreed. He's improved almost beyond recognition over the past two years. I used to think he was bobbins but he's won me over and would be my first name on the team sheet. Great movement, clever, good skills and capable of creating something from nothing. The fact that he gets in so many one-on-ones without any real pace speaks volumes for his understanding of the game. Given a bit of time I think 4-3-3 will really suit him. He's got the intelligence to pull it off.
