Cov have just sold gary McSheffrey to Brum for £4 mill, whilst this is good with friday night in mind wouldnt Fryatt be the obvious replacement? and wouldnt cost £4 mill.

I see David Connolly all over again :(

i cant imagine him wanting to go there or us selling him to them..but you never know money talks...

Is it me or is Fryatt linked with everyone who has a bit of cash?

Yeah he looks a good player, but he's still yet to prove he is better than the championship, he's only scored 6. the teams he is being linked with, just like us, have premiership ambitions with money to spend, surely they would go for provern goal scorers which fryatt isn't.........yet.

Don't think so, unless they offer silly money. A number of differences here:
1. Connolly wanted to go, I don't thing Fryatt would consider it a step up going to Cov.
2. I believe Connolly had an escape clause in his contract.
3. Fryatt has 3 years to run on his contract, so we are in a strong bargaining position.
4. Obviously, the money would come in handy, but I don't think at the moment we would have to sell to balance the books. Plus, let's be honest, we want Fryatt to progress as a player, and in that case he will move on eventually, but if that scenario was to happen, we could be looking at getting a very large fee in. I should imagine the board would bear that in mind if a bid were to come in now. I'll probably be proved wrong here, but I think he will be here at the end of the season.

Lets not forget if Baggies or Coventry are looking for a striker they'd be looking for a player who can score goals and the fact is Fryatt has no goals in 3 matches where as David Connerley(dont no how to spell his name) scored 4 in the first 2, wasnt it :102:

I cant believe that brum have paid 4mill for a player who has had only one good season. How much have they already spent this season? 10mill?

And to be quite honest I dont think any clubs are looking at Fryatt at the moment...he has got to start scoring regularly. IF at the end of the season he has scored 15-20 goals...he'll be gone for sure.

Where the fcuk has everybody got this impression that no club will be interested in Fryatt, he is IMO one of the most highly rated strikers outside the premier league and you can tell he is highly regarded within the game because of the way the pundits talk about him.

Don't kid yourselves, teams watch players over a number of weeks / months and sometimes for even a couple of years, anybody who thinks Wigan only became aware of Connolly because of his 4 goals in the opening 2 matches is clearly deluding themselves.

Whilst Fryatt has not scored a bagful of goals, he has shown in his play more than enough to suggest he can make the grade as a premiership player, he has far more to offer than Connolly ever would.

I would be surprised if he signed for a club in Coventry's position as I doubt he would stand to gain much, but if a club such as Brum, West Brom or a team from the premiership came in then I am sure the lure would be too much for him or the club to resist.

I think regardless of Fryatt's great ability, surely they are better and more finished article players Cov could buy for 4 million. And I think that's why people believe clubs wont sign Fryatt yet.

Not sure I agree. It was never ability that let Connolly down. It was his attitude couple with the style of play / team mates chosen by the manager. I'd agree that Fryatt could become a better player, but he's young and so far he isn't.

We clearly need a big striker in the mould of Hartson (big belly, ginger) who can muscle in and give us a goal. We're too lightweight with what we have.

Just had a horrible thought Steve Claridge is still looking for his 1000th game isn't he? :icon_conf

Think the industrial chemical laden northern air has got to your brain PFKAKTF! You are going on like Fryatt is the next Maradonna or something. He's decent but a bit lightweight and a bit slow for a striker.
He may will improve but he's never going to be a world beater.

Knackered, I think he's retired now. Even if he hasn't, I think it would be a backwards step, plus his wages might prove a problem. Stick with what we've got.

we could pay him in Tennants Super. Big Dunc would love that deal/ never mind pay as you play. Dink as you play is the way forward for him. :icon_bigg
