I doubt we will know before kick off. There certainly looks grounds to have the decision overturned.

Having seen it on the TV, an appeal would be pointless, he went in with his arm and made contact with the player, that adds up to a red card simple as.

From the Mercury ....

With strikers Carl Cort, DJ Campbell and Collins John struggling through injury, it means the team is threadbare up front following Matty Fryatt's red card at Ashton Gate, which means an automatic three-match ban.

City are likely to appeal the decision, rated harsh even in the Robins camp, so Fryatt would then be available for tonight.

Holloway said: “We are going to try to appeal. The last thing he deserves is to be suspended unfairly so we will try to sort it out.”

Wish I could see a counter argument, but you are correct. Fryatt has no case for an appeal.

Does putting in an appeal just mean that the suspension is held back until a decision has been reached? If so it might just be that the club want Fryatt available for tonight with most of our other strikers out too. Then again that could mean an increased fine.

There is no question of a fine.

A suspension for violent conduct starts immediately. If there are not enough working days between the sending-off and the next game (as in this case), an appeal for wrongful dismissal can be submitted and the suspension will be delayed until the appeal has been heard.

However there are some costs involved with an appeal. Additionally, if an appeal is deemed to have been 'frivolous', the suspension may be doubled.

The real question might be 'Three games now - or six games later' - it's a risky business.

Thanks Boc. It seems entirely too risky to me. Looks like Fryatt won't be playing tonight.

i would take the 3 game ban now as we all know what the FA are like and would more than likey say it stands

IMO its time we gave Reneil Sappleton a go in the first team :023:
