Foxes fans are set for a first glimpse of deadline day signings Nick Powell and Tom Lawrence tonight as the Development Squad take on Fulham at King Power Stadium (KO 7pm).
Matty James is also down to feature for Steve Beaglehole’s side, who are going in search of their first Barclays U21 Premier League win of the campaign on the back of last week’s Westerby Cup Winners’ Cup victory.

Highly-rated striker Powell joined on a season-long loan from Manchester United on deadline day, and will be given his first run out in a City shirt against the Cottagers.

He will be joined from the start by Welsh winger Tom Lawrence, who signed a four-year deal with the Club at the start of the month – making it a night of football not to be missed.

On top of the Powell and Lawrence involvement, City’s current Young Player of the Season Matty James is to continue his recovery from a shin injury in central midfield.

Manager Nigel Pearson revealed that James had enjoyed a full return to training in the week building up to the Stoke City fixture, so he will be keen to prove his fitness with an impressive display on home turf tonight.

Tickets for the match are priced at just £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions, and can be purchased from the City Fanstore at the stadium tonight.

Squad from: Adam Smith, Johnny Maddison, Zoumana Bakayogo, James Pearson, Michael Cain, Tom Hopper, Matty James, Kieran Kennedy, Callum Elder, Louis Rowley, Alie Sesay, Jack Barmby, Nick Powell, Harry Panayiotou, Tom Lawrence, Jak McCourt

I thought Powell was a midfielder, but they call him a striker. Am I wrong, are they wrong, or can he play in either position?

They don't like it up em these lot, ram it right up em for the win.

Always thought Powell played in the hole betwixt midfield and striker, let's see how he lines up

That Jeff is a very good question. Powell says he likes playing as a traditional 10, which would suggest an attacking midfielder, playing in the 'hole' behind two strikers, so he's not an out and out striker, but not entirely a midfielder either. That should clear matters up.

I'd say his role is very similar to Nugent's.

Should have signed Fanni - probably an ideal fit

Fulham U21's - isn't that basically their first team nowadays!

Why didn't bagashiteo leave in Jan? Surely someone like Cov would take him

The answer suggests he does not actually want to play anywhere.

The interview should have gone like this:
Q What is your favourite position
A I'll ask Mr Pearson.

Well that question suggest a young man who wants to learn his craft with the aid of a good manager. What's not to like?

Looks like they didn't take my advice and got beat as a result.
