£18 fecking quid to watch them play against Telford!?!?! Makes City look reasonable to be honest!

They'll go bust anyway as they're non-league, it's just the league clubs that get away with making a mockery of winding up orders. Nice to see us try and help out though.

Mawsley will go perhaps as its local for him.

Mawsley won't.

Mawsley and three others pointed out to the Trust and the fans at the last Supporters' Meeting that even with a miracle occurring and the club remaining in the BSP it still wouldn't be enough. The ground costs too much for it to be viable and the new "owner" has said he isn't coming in to subsidise the club. Considering relegation is almost a bang-on certainty it means matchday revenue is going to drop even further, leaving an even bigger hole in the finances.

It was pointed out that now the situation is just supporters throwing good money after bad with no hope of anything happening other than the demand from cash increasing on a monthly basis. It was clearly demonstrated that the situation as was only had one reasonable outcome and that was to form a phoenix club located back in Kettering - the money being thrown around by supporters would have provided a great start up fund in excess of £45K. But, as seems to be the way, the Poppies Trust (a surprising collection of idiots, morons and rude individuals) refused to back the plan and a collected number of retarded gobshites joined them.

They'll see out the season.

They'll collapse during the summer or near the start of next season as they'll need fundraising matches like this once a week, every week. It simply can't be done. They talk of using the infrastructure resources to their maximum but there is a very good reason why R&D went bust - no one wants to go there. You'll only get 1800-odd fans for a team at the top of the BSP and one wedding party in the hall every six months...no one else would ever go to Irthlingborough unless they were lost.

I think the cause is lost for KTFC to be honest and it's a shame. It's always sad when a football club goes to the wall. Seen it happen several times- Rugby Town FC (The original) Rushden and Diamonds, Coventry Sporting to name but a few and now K Town is likely to follow. All clubs I have enjoyed visting and refereeing over the years.

Trouble is I don't think it will be long before a really big club folds; Rangers are the best candidates at the mo. You only have to get one of the big finiacial backers/owners to have had enough and it'll be good night. If Abramovich left Chelsea - would they survive long term? What would happen if - God forbid - he died suddenly? I feel that football is on a bit of a precipice and it could tumble over- if one left would other owners follow?

Nene Park is "The" Venue according to this

Nene Park, the home of Kettering Town F C, aims to become 'the' venue for events in Northamptonshire.

The site boasts not only just a football stadium and other football pitches for hire, but also a large adjoining space available to hire for outdoor events.Under the 'Airwair' stand there is also a large space for hire should you require protection from the elements.

The interior facilities at the venue comprise a number of rooms of varying sizes. We can offer small rooms for all types of meetings, including your company's Board meetings and staff meetings.

There are larger rooms for hire for up to 300 people and we have hundreds of car parking spaces on site for larger staff meetings/training sessions. The Kimberley Suite boasts the largest capacity in the Diamond Centre and has a number of breakout areas on the same floor to compliment.

The Kimberley Suite is also an ideal venue for social functions and weddings, with a fully stocked bar and kitchen facilities.

In the North Stand there are two larger rooms which will accommodate 40 and 60 people and three smaller rooms for breakout groups or smaller meeting groups. There is a bar available and a separate kitchen.

All types of catering can be included for your event and can be taylor made to suit your requirements.

In addition we are shortly hoping to be able to hire out a suite of offices which includes a large Boardroom/Meeting Room.

For any quote - please call the venue on 01933 652000 or alternatively Ritchie Jeune on 07834 376730 or Ken Samuel on 07831-555975

Didn't the chap who eventually ran Rushden and Diamonds Max Griggs offer Kettering Town his money first and they turned him down?

Don't know to be honest.

He was Chairman at the Cobblers, left and then went to go back but the then board pissed him off so much he told them to sod off...going to build his empire in the cesspit of Northamptonshire in the process. Nice bloke was Max - would have transformed the Cobblers with the money he threw at R&D.

What they omit is that the kitchens do not have an environmental health certificate, the heating system doesn't work (it's leaking and the boiler is broken). Suppliers have instituted a pay before delivery policy. The old R&D carpet looks stupid in a "KTFC" venue. There is no full-time facilities manager on-site, no receptionist on-site and therefore no way of obtaining drop in trade. There are no advanced audio-visual facilities, the wireless network seldom works and there are no kitchen staff on site. There are no price lists arranged, no research has been completed to see if there is any demand in the locality and there is no benefit of note to other cheap facilities on offer in Higham and Rushden.

In fact, the only benefit it has is that it has a bloody great car park and is close to one (if not the) largest gypsy/traveller site/scrapyard in Northamptonshire. So, maybe handy for some Big Fat Gypsy Weddings?

I've a lot of time and respect for Ken Samuel, no one has worked harder (for free) to save a club, but this is all like listening to a bunch of school kids coming up with great plans that are totally unworkable.

What happened to the Kettering ground next to the bowling? Has that gone then?

The git who was worse than Mandaric pissed off the owner then didn't pay the lease - it now has planning permission for something like a billion houses.

Amazing to recall that in the early 1970s, Kettering and Wigan were the then non-league clubs favourites to get elected to the league, at the expense of Workington, presumably due to the latter being an asshole some way beyond the end of the universe.

They then changed the re-election rules so that instead of a free for all, with Kettering getting within a few votes of success, the beginnings of the pyramid system meant only the Northern and Southern champions went forward - Wimbledon were elected, then a season later Wigan.

Makes you think.

Cov sent a team over a couple of weeks ago. Less than 600 paid to watch, raised about £3k.
It pains me to say it but they are knackered. Should never have moved.

They would make more money selling the Tulisa blow job tape, which is where im going now... Again...

I'd chip in a few quid just because of happy childhood memories of Wicksteed Park!
I wonder if those pirate ships are still swinging?
