Forest settle with Dutch striker (from bbc.co.uk)
Van Hooijdonk scored 34 goals for Forest in 1998
Nottingham Forest has reached an out-of-court settlement with former striker Pierre van Hooijdonk.
Van Hooijdonk's lawyers say the club has agreed to make a "substantial payment" to the Dutch striker.
The 34-year-old striker left the club in 1999 and was claiming a share of the transfer fee for his move as well as a loyalty bonus from Forest.
Last December, he was awarded £383,000 by the High Court, but this settlement is said to be on top of that figure.
He left the club for Vitesse Arnhem for £3.5m, shortly after going on strike because he claimed the club had broken its promise of investing in new players.
Hooijdonk's UK adviser Tony Lymn said the player had no desire to be involved in litigation with Forest and sought a settlement before going to court.
He scored 52 goals in 61 league matches for Feyenoord, and helped the Rotterdam team win the 2002 Uefa Cup.
Before joining Feyenoord, Van Hooijdonk had a brief spell at Portugal's Benefica after leaving Vitesse Arnhem.
He endured a stormy three years at Nottingham Forest before leaving for Europe.
Nottingham Forest Football Club has not yet commented on the settlement.
