Hi,
I had a free hosting package with heart internet but i've exceeded my monthly bandwidth and the site has been disabled. I don't want to pay so what should I do to get my site back up. The contrl panel cannot be accessed whilst the site is disabled.

Does anyone know of somewhere I can transfer my domain that is free? I don't want any pop-ups or anything.

Most hosting companies will have low bandwidth limits on their free accounts. I use Heart for all my hosting and they are exceptional. If you can spring for their lowest paid account it is well worth it.

With hosting you definately get what you pay for.

I know that feeling, but you will end up with ads or popups generally if you go for free

Companies will only provide free hosting if they're using it either to sell their 'proper' hosting accounts, or because they put ads on it, so wherever you move to you're likely to have the same problem.


But if you rediuce the size of the pages on the existing site, you might find you have sufficient bandwidth without having to move.

Compress the images on the site to get the best compromise between file size and quality, and if you have any large files such as audio/video, host them on a file hosting site and link to them.


If not, just pay for hosting. You can get starter hosting accounts for less than £20 a year. If your site's not worth that much to you why are you bothering with it?

I can't get into my control panel until tomorrow any way.
Also, does it matter how many people view the pages or does the bandwidth just go on what I actually upload, etc.

It's how many times the files are viewed / downloaded.
You should have access to stats which will help you see how the bandwidth is being used.
