I think you're reading too much into it, they certainly didn't make him sound like he's a world beater, his performance was described as 'competent'.

Oh there was! Walking around Sevenoaks on Saturday lunchtime, inept company on Saturday night and then back out in to the countryside on sunday morning. Couldn't wait to leave!
