Leicester City 4-2 Huddersfield Town
24 January 2009

Jack Hobbs won his third man of the match award of the season (and his first since August) after being voted City's best player by the fans present at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. Hobbs was one of three defenders who grabbed a goal and it was fellow goalscorer Bruno Berner whose impressive performance saw him finish narrowly in second to the loanee from Liverpool. Ever a handful striker Steve Howard made the top three again and even eclipsed his goalscoring partner Matty Fryatt in doing so.

Kerrea Gilbert's 45 minutes of action are ones that he will want to forget as the votes of the fans appear to make Pearson justified in his decision to substitute him at half time. Lloyd Dyer failed to improve on his recent poor streak but will be relieved that he was not the worst player on the pitch against Huddersfield.

Not at all surprised. He was in a filthy mood what with his man flu and coughing and sneezing everywhere. Shouldn't have been there at all if a little cold is going to make him as harsh as that.

nice to see this. hobbs was being written off a few weeks back when he was playing at full back. i've always thought he was a good player. i'd like it if we could sign him but i doubt that will happen.

I think we will get him depending on the price. He is defo not premiership class and i can't see Liverpool ever playing him, not in the near future anyway. I think he looks a solid Championship player which might be his future with us next year.

Depends on price basically??

Is it just me who thinks Morrison is a better player and hasn't deserved to be dropped ahead of him when it's happened this season?

Yes, Hobbs had a decent game last satdee, but he was poor against Brighton and second best next to Morrison yesterday, who seems to have enough brains to look and pass rather than Hobbs' panic and hoof.

Good enough for the CCC? I'm not sure meself at this point in time.

I do think that Morrison will end up a better player and may be with us in the Premiership in a few years time. It is easy to forget that although they are both young Hobbs has far more experience than Morrison.

Morrison was player of the season at Cambridge before he came to us, I believe. So a fairly full season at least, you'd assume.

Has he though?

How much first team experience did they both have before coming here? As I just assumed Morrison was a first teamer at Cambridge.

Bit different though isn't it.Morrison came from a Conference side whilst Hobbs had a virtual full season at Scunnythorpe as well as Premier League Reserve experience, which isn't a bad standard.I think people forget Hobbs is only young.Saying that I don't think he's all that from what I've seen.

I'd like to keep Hobbs here next year. I don't think he would be quick enough for the premiership, but believe he could more than hold his own in the Championship. He's a big lad, heads the ball well, and can tackle. Put someone like Tunchev next to him, who is probably a bit quicker and reads the game better then i think you've got a good partnership.

As is Morrison, he's only 5 or 6 months older than Hobbs you know.
