Iain Hume was quick to focus on next season after the Foxes went down 4-1to Wolves on the final day of the 2006/07 Championship campaign.

The defeat saw City finish in 19th place with 53 points from 46 games.

"It was a very disappointing way to end the season and at times it was embarrassing," said the Canadian international striker.

"After the first 20 minutes we got exactly what we deserved - absolutely nothing. Good luck to Wolves in the play-offs but we must forget about this result as soon as possible and start preparing for next season.

"The most important thing is that we went into the game knowing that we were already safe after a couple of good results.

"A few weeks ago we were really in trouble but managed to drag ourselves out of it.

"We didn't show up against Wolves and that was bitterly disappointing considering there were over 30,000 people inside the stadium."

Hume's early strike was his 14th of the season and on a personal note he was delighted to end a frustrating nine months with a goal.

"It was nice to score after a few games without one but I would have liked to have made it to 15.

"However, that gives me a target for next season if I can stay in the team."

Hume is now keen to see what developments unfold during the close season.

"The new chairman has come in and set out his ambitions for this football club," he added.

"I am sure we will see him, and the new manager, bring in a few new faces during the summer and then we must come back at the beginning of July and get ready for the new season.

"The pressure is always on us but next season will be a big one for us and people are going to expect a lot of good things from us.

"It's up to us to deliver."

For Hume the season is not yet over, as he is hoping to be involved in Canada's CONCACAF Gold Cup quest next month with games against Costa Rica (June 6), Guadeloupe (June 9) and Haiti (June 11) in Miami.

"If selected, it's going to be a tough summer but one that I am looking forward too.

"Hopefully I can play well and then come back as fit as I can for the start of pre-season with Leicester City."

"it was embarrassing"

The only decent thing he said

he seems sure he'll be here next season. but i suppose he was one of the better players (not saying much)

was there a picture with his index finder pointing downwards!

14 goals is good for Hume as far as I'm concerned. He's a support striker more than an out and out goalscorer, and that tally is around what most people would've expected from him at the start of the season.
If Fryatt (or anyone else for that matter) had managed to get 20+ goals this season then I don't think Hume's critics would have such a problem with him.

Hume only scored a couple less goals than the likes of Howard, Eastwood, Vine, and Nugent! With how crap the rest of our team has done I think that's decent.

I think Hume's tally is good enough for him to keep his place, at least on the bench.

The problem is because we have nobody else he plays every single match. It doesn't do us any favours nor him. Also when will somebody realise that he is not an out and out striker and he's more of a midfielder

He's not a bad player IMO. I thought he looked decent on the right wing yesterday too - 14 goals not bad, not great, but judging by the service is pretty superb. He works hard.........

From talking to him for a fair bit last night he wants to extend his contract, his missus likes it down here and he loves being at the Club.

Oh and he reads the forums.......doesn't mind people saying he's played crap in games but hates it when they say he doesn't put the effort in.

And he says it pisses him off reading some of the comments from people who are judging games from listening to radio commentary and not being there.....

I did say to him, "you were all crap at Plymouth though", which he agreed!

I also said that his problem was he drops too deep into midfield doing their job, he said I'm not saying anything about our midfield, so I said, I will then, it's crap.

He's a sound bloke.

Yes he is one of the players which never stop running and puts in the effort in most games. His heading is a +plus+ also against anyone nearly except Brean on Sat he can win it in the air.

I can just picture it now, Hume sits down with some crazy drunken lady who leans in, in the manner of a drunken uncle at a wedding, slurring ... "now Iain, I'll tell you what your problem is..hic..."
