Obviously we will now suffer injuries to every striker on the books & he'll be back before the end of the month. & we have reached (I think) the 67th consecutive transfer window without signing a right back. Must be the universe restoring the balance from the days when we had 8 of the ****ers in the team.

The last of the heroes finally leaves

We went and did the most extraordinary thing the football world has ever seen, and then we signed:

Hernandez - dreadful, and went after a few months to Malaga (?)
Mendy - hopeless, now farting about in France
Zieler - godawful, and now back in Stuttgart
Musa - comedy gold, and now back where he came from in Moscow
Kaputska - never looked good enough, now at Freiberg
Slimani - complete wank, and forced to go to Newcastle as punishment

What a shower - no wonder last season was a complete feckin' nightmare

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mendy back here and involved next season, since he did well with Puel in France. Although no idea how well he's doing this year?

I think Slimani will get a few goals for Newcastle this season. Still think there's a good player there, just doesn't fit the way we play.

And that’s what 30 million quid buys you these days folks.

And five of them should be back for pre-season in July.

Unfortunately N'Didi will probably go in the summer so Mendy will slot in there when he comes back.

No he won't. We will hold him hostage for two more years before he finally shits in the tea urn.

Interesting aside from today's Guardian:

According to a source, (West Ham's) attempts to sign Slimani were hindered because Brady, the club’s vice-chairman, offended Leicester’s owners with comments about the club’s chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, in her weekly column for the Sun last year.

“A fellow Premier League director reports that last night he bumped into the Leicester chairman at London’s most-expensive wine shop,” Brady wrote. “The Leicester owner told him they’d sacked Claudio Ranieri.

“He then casually settled his bill for wine and champagne. Since the sum was close to £500,000 I guess the compensation to his old manager is pocket change. At least the owner can drown his sorrows in style!”

The source suggested Brady’s comments ended up becoming a PR own goal when Leicester refused to consider West Ham’s interest in Slimani, paving the way for Newcastle United to sign the Algerian forward on loan. It is claimed that despite repeated apologies from West Ham, attempts to make peace with Leicester fell on deaf ears.

It is understood that Brady apologised to Leicester some time ago and thought the matter was considered by both parties to be closed.
