its quite a good read that.

he always was a decent honest fellow, shame he wasn't 7 years younger coz he could "do a job" at this level.

"Poignantly his departure virtually coincided with the publication of his book, a diary of Norwich's season, called 'All I Want For Christmas' (Roberts' front teeth were removed, by an elbow, when he was 18)."

I thought his front teeth were knocked out when he was with us cause i remember that toothless beaming smile when he knocked in his 3rd goal against derby but before that his teeth were there.

You may well have seen him with teeth - but only when he wasn't playing, he took the false ones out for matches.

That's the one!

But I wasn't sorry to see him leave, he wasn't Premiership quality. That's probably one of the reasons why he left, because he knew he wouldn't be good enough to get a starting place the following season.

ANd really and truly at the time Wolves probably did look a bigger club on paper - now however I don't think that's the case at all.

Even if Wolves were (perceived to be) a bigger club, most players would prefer to play in the Premiership than play in a lower division. But Roberts realised he wasnt good enough in our previous Premiership season, so when we were promoted again he buggered off to Wolves where he would look like a decent player, rather than stay somewhere where he'd be out of his depth.

Agreed - O'Neil knew what he had coming then anyways.....I always thought he'd been told as much and therefore had a little snipe.

I was there when he scored that hat-trick against the Sheep in about 20 mins and for that alone he will always be a Star IMO

It reminds me of when Paul Kitson left us to join Derby because they were going to be promoted...8)

No need to talk about Webbo like that. He just wanted to be "friendly"

Gillingham found that he wasn't even of Championship quality this season. I saw him in their game against Leeds (their first home game of the season - the night after we played at Derby); the 'physical aspect' was always a mojor part of his geme - it is now the only aspect!

I am sure Webbo is far more friendly on the eye than Roberts ever will be...
