Johnny Heitinga

Position : Defender

Date of birth : 15 November, 1983

Team : Ajax (Holland)

Nationality : Holland

Notes : Scored two goals to help Holland to third spot in the 2000 European U/16 Championships. Won a four year contract with Ajax after good performances in their youth teams. He played at the Toulon tournament in 2001 and also in the World Youth Cup in the same year, where Holland reached the quarter-finals, to continue his improving youth international career.

Heitinga will enter Euro 2004 on a massive high after helping Ajax reclaim the Dutch Eredivisie title off their closest rivals PSV Eindhoven.

Heitinga only made his debut for Holland in February 2004, filling in at right-back in the 1-0 win over the USA.

Normally a centre-back the youngster impressed everyone with a mature display that earned him inclusion in the friendly matches against France and Greece.

Heitinga's rise is even more phenomenal considering he spent almost all of the 2002/2003 on the sidelines after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament at the start of the season.

Despite his youth, Heitinga is already a regular with Ajax and after shackling Thierry Henry in Holland's 0-0 draw with France, the 20-year-old is tipped in some quarters to start in Dick Advocaat's team.

Technically excellent, Heitinga rarely wastes possession and already has many of the attributes of a classic Dutch defender much like his club coach Ronald Koeman.

On his way to leicester from portugal after euro 2004

20, centre back PERFECT

Signs tomorrow at 12

YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS

of course he will - but its important he gets some experience for himself of English conditions for a few seasons either in the reserves or on an extended loan to somewhere like Brentford.

Personally, i'm much more excited by the signing of the wizard Wilcox. He will provide stiff competition for our established stars like Gillespie. And can always be sold on to a medical research establishment specialising in sports injuries.

I wouldn't want Heitanga anyway,he's got a silly name sounds like a Lenny Henry catchphrase. As for Marcus Bent.. what do you expect from a public/boarding school boy, what a ' Wag' old bean.

HA no he is not

Made it up, you need to realise that just because a player is over 30 doesn't mean he can't play

IDIOTS

Thanks for that Marcus Bent - I know who you are remember.

Cheers for that marcus :?

BTW you would make your point a bit better if you weren't missing 'n't'

Heitanga

So instead of writing a well thought-out constructive post defending older players in response to some of the well thought-out constructive posts on here expressing their concern about them, you decided to use the respect people have for you here to 'punish' them for having their own opinions?

Pot calling kettle.

That has to be the worst hoax ever! Don't you just love pre-season fun and games. When your hoaxing try and be realistic mate, the player in question is world class
