We joke about him now but he’s been a fantastic player for us and helped to deliver the FA Cup. Him and Soyuncu were as good a partnership as anything we’ve seen at times in the 19/20 season and the start of the following season.

Seems like the type who will do well in management, perhaps even for NI.

Not bad for the 50 odd marbles we paid WBA for him really.

Nope, not having him at all.

Yes, he's a very good central defender when fit and on form, but we've seen that in fits and starts over five years now.

Often he starts or ends a season totally off the pace. He also spends half of every season injured. Also, we've given him over £20m in wages over five years.

I'm also always annoyed by his availability issue. Miraculously available when NI call and Pulis had him spot on - you have to force the guy to play because he overstates every niggle.

However, my main complaint with him is his approach to being club captain last season. I don't think I've ever come across someone so inept at the role. From his regular total silence failing to represent his players through to his interview after the final game of the season where he was utterly lacking in humility and basically just said that the players had said bye to each other.

I'll be fuming if we give him more money.

I'm still wondering how long we're going to carry on giving out honours with "empire" as part of the title. Always seemed a bit comical to me & more than a touch pathetic. A bit like still referring to your ex as your wife. Embarrassing really.
