has anyone else got this (2009 edition) ive just done an scan and its come up with a list of detective threats but i dont know what i should do next. when i click quarantine it gives me the option to open a file, and i cant see any way of removing them. It says no active threats as a general rule but then next to some says "very dangerous".

If it's what I think it is, these are program vulnerabilities, you just need to update some installed programs. In the Detected column is a web address, go to it for information.

What is the best Antivirus for the PC with Internet security - i had Norton Internet security 2009 with my laptop on a 90 day trail, that ran out on sunday, i install AVG for the time being,

what is the best recommedation i rather get freeware but if its worth it then i shall "invest"

Sorry DD nothing to do with your question but nice place to add my own problem haha ;)

Columbo's in there I bet, I always had my suspicions about the winking bastard.

AVG Free Edition and AntiVir are in use on two of my PC's and I've never had cause to regret it. I think AVG is a little more resource hungry but has a better interface. Not suffered a virus infection since installing them and when they have been sent they have both caught the buggers before they did any harm

Just for the sake of clarity here, you're talking about AVG on one PC and AntVir on the other? Not both installed on both PCs?

Installing more than one AV app on a PC is not a good idea.

In the interests of clarity, I am indeed talking about AVG on one PC and AntiVir on another!

My Linux box doesn't have either by the way :icon_wink

Thought as much, but just thought I'd make the point in case anybody misunderstood and thought it might be a good idea. :)

Not immune, but I've never bothered with AV on a Linux box to be honest

Our computer maintainance guy claims to have started seeing problems with pc's with AVG since the last major update (8.5 i think?).

Do you think Fludie paid for it?

Using a pirated copy of an anti-virus program is not one of the more sensible things you can do.

He wouldn't be that stupid, he couldn't be, surely? Oh wait...
