Looks like we should get Kenton for buttons - now they have been relegated the saints will be looking to off load players to reduce their wage bill

Hope so. We'll gladly have Prutton, Crouch, Phillips, Johnson, Ashton and Green from the relegated teams.

I am not sure we would get him for buttons, but you're right it does help anyone who is looking to buy a Southampton player. :D :D  ;-)

CL has said we can't afford his wages.

Good! The guy is an absolute liability! How someone like Jordy can get slated match after match, despite playing (imo) Quite well and yet someone like Kenton who has made major mistakes, has become so popular the fans are requesting his services full time?

At RB I agree with you, however at CB he was faultless IMO

Your taking this from one game....Plymouth Away...apart from that he's been outstanding

What about Blackburn? Sunderland?

Considering he's been at fault in at least 3 games during his short spell at the club, do people really think this is a wise move? He just seems to lack a general awarness.

now southampton have been relegated i can see kenton staying there
i doubt they can afford his wages now...

Our understanding is that relegation for Saints makes a deal less likely

1) Selling better players back to the Prem

2) More likely to have a change of manager & therefore fresh assessment of playing squad

Blackburn - a team in the Premier who makes it so difficult for the opposition to play
Sunderland - the eventual winners of the league.
If being poor in 3 games means a player is shit, I don't think anyone deserves to be in our team.

It wasn't about ebing poor in 3 games! It was about making indivdual errors whcih were needless and cost us!

Well said! start from scratch would be a good idea, and ask if they give a shit before signing them. in my opinion kenton has looked a good player, granted he makes mistakes but even our best player of late (Hughes) has had certain games where he just drifts out for a while. From experience of watching this season i can happily say the league is bollocks, therefore attention for an entire match is rarely needed if we can get one or two slightly decent players we should do ok

and he was the only one to make mistakes then??
since Levein moved him to CB he has been superb.

if there was any way we possibly could,i would like to see him here permenantly, but now with southmapton down i doubt it'll happen.

I think we've got to be realistic with who we are and who we are going to attract.

If you think we are going to get players who don't make mistakes for the money we can offer and position we are in then you may aswell give up your season ticket and go and watch the Champions League cause thats where those defenders play, not for a team who just avoided relegation to Div 1.

Kenton would be an asset cause he can play RB or CH but most of all because he is a good defender (not great) but one with pace which we've not had for years and is a real asset in this league and the Prem.

I agree completely

We've seen him in action, he looks ok but not spectacular, he's quick, and he did a pretty good job

Who else are we gonna get ?

The key word here is pace. For ages now our defence has lacked pace and the has been illustrated by the fact that whenever we have played teams with pacy front men we have looked vulnerable.

Kenton has the ability to keep up with the quicker strikers and therefore is worth signing on a permanent basis.

Also, as homer correctly points out, who else are we going to get? Remember that we are in the Championship, not the Premiership, so Kenton is about at the best we are going to be able to get.

If we can get him to sign a contract that suits us then I think it will be a positive move.

SOCCER: Wage cuts for Saints stars

Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe has revealed the club will avoid getting into financial difficulties as the players will take wage cuts following relegation.

Saints dropped out of the Barclays Premiership following yesterday`s 2-1 defeat by Manchester United at St Mary`s but Lowe has disclosed the players had a clause inserted into their contracts where their wages would be reduced should they go down.

Lowe told the club`s official website, wwwsaintsfc.co.uk: "The players have a clause in their contracts which cuts their wages so we will not suffer the same problems as some of the previously relegated clubs.

"Our wage bill, which was bigger than that of West Brom, Palace and Norwich, will not come into line with our income."

So Kenton will take a cut in wages anyway at Southampton. This has to help our cause especially if Southampton also want his wages of their books. :D :D  ;-)
