Leicester City Football Club would like to extend its best wishes to Kevin Phillips, who has agreed to take up a new role as Assistant First Team Coach with Derby County.

Leicester City Football Club would like to extend its best wishes to Kevin Phillips, who has agreed to take up a new role as Assistant Coach with Derby County.
The 42-year-old leaves the Foxes after a memorable time both as a player and coach since his arrival at King Power Stadium in January 2014.
A former England international with a goal scoring pedigree to rival the very best, Phillips played for a total of 10 clubs throughout his long and successful career as a player, before accepting a coaching role with the Foxes upon his retirement in the summer of 2014.
Perhaps best known for his goal scoring exploits with Sunderland, where he scored 30 goals in his debut Premier League season to earn him the European Golden Shoe, Phillips has recently been passing on that experience to Leicester City’s attackers in his capacity as First Team Coach and Striker Mentor.
He has also contributed to the Foxes' cause on the pitch. After being signed by Nigel Pearson in January 2014, he set up David Nugent for a winner against Leeds United on his debut before becoming the Club’s oldest-ever goalscorer in a 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.
It was a game that gave City a record ninth consecutive league win en route to their 2013/14 Championship title victory – Phillips’ fifth promotion as a player. Phillips' influence and coaching expertise continued to prove vital on the Club’s return to the Premier League.
This past summer, Kevin was central to the coaching setup that aided a successful managerial transition, ensuring the squad’s preparation for the 2015/16 campaign was successfully managed through the early stages of pre season.
Everyone at the Club would like to thank Kevin for his fine contribution as a Leicester City coach and player over three seasons and wish him the very best in the future.
