It's long been known that some of the Coronation Street team are Leicester fans - well, David Neilson at least.

Tonight, as every Friday, there was a double bill. In the first episode La Bamba could be heard playing in the background at the Roy's cafe with particular emphasis on the 'Sol Sol Bamba' bit.

In the second episode, at the hospital the doctor told Fizz to 'keep the faith'.

Co-incidence? I think not!!

As in the much used everyday phrase "Keep the faith"? How is that a Leicester City reference?

And I'd be surprised if the musical reference was to Sol Bamba, given that episodes of soaps are generally shot 6-8 weeks before they are aired, meaning Bamba would not have signed for us yet when the episode was shot.

There's always one isn't there!

Of course it was a LCFC reference you disbeliever!

Ignoring the fact that there isn't a 'Sol Sol Bamba' bit, I'm choosing to take offence that you'd watch such brain putrefying shite.
I used to respect you

Alright then you pedantic **** - the bit that sounds like 'Sol Sol Bamba' :icon_lol:

Respect? Ha :081::081::081:

He'll probably say it was someone else's fault, like he does when he listens to crap music.

I was tied to the sofa with chains and matchsticks were put under my eyelids.

But it was worth it for the City references.

You're right, it was needles in the film I was thinking of, not matchsticks.

I did read about a few references in Corrie involving Mr Cropper.

- When asked for the reference number on the bottom of a kitchen appliance, he said "LCFC97"

- After Steve Claridge left the club a scene cut to Roy in the café where he waved goodbye to a customer saying "Goodbye Mr Claridge!"

Apparently Herbert Chapman has just put a bid in to sign Ted Drake from Southampton.

Nor me. Although I think I should point out that 'Keep the Faith' was a Micky Adams tagline which he dragged round from club to club.

I've heard he's a big Northern Soul fan

I think this is more likely than any City influence, where 'Keep the Faith' has been the motto for much longer than weve used it.

Also they play the odd Northern tune now and again on Corrie and at least one of the cast is into Northern, Lloyd who even does a bit of Northern DJing.

I have heard they can add the music at the production stage. This means the music could have been added a few weeks ago. The choice of music though is up to the production team I would think.

But you never know Roy may have suggested it to them!
