Legit question… is it time we stopped calling them ‘professional’ footballers. I’m not an employee anymore, but when I used to be, I can’t imagine a possible time where I would say, “please ask me not to do my job today. I should stay at home because my head is in another place thinking about how I wish I worked for your competition”.

I get the argument that they are in a job like anyone else, but you also made a contractual commitment. Until that commitment is concluded, you turn up and you do your best. Be a ****ing man about it. It’s no wonder we are in a bit of a state. Asking for a spine of a team when you are surrounded by spineless boys is a big ask.
