Would prefer amartey in rather than King.

King played well against Arsenal.

He did ok however he is still a spare prick at a wedding and slows the play, I would go with Hernandez or Amartey we need to inject energy into the midfield and give Drinkwater the space to get things going tough game this one!

Not you as well? Hernandez in midfield?!

Where is this Hernandez in midfield coming from?

And how the feck would a centre half inject more energy than an actual central midfielder?

He's being mardy

Because he plays both positions! And King treats the ball like a hot potato and moves the ball sideways which slows our play down. His tackling is non existent he simply runs alongside the player rather than actually making an interception. The fact is Kingy is an attacking midfielder who prefers to arrive late in the box it is unfair to ask him to play a Kante type role.

So the only other options (until James is fully fit) are Hernandez or Amartey, I would go for Amartey he is strong and very quick

He plays the ball sideways when the option is to play the ball sideways.

It is acceptable to try and keep possession of the ball occasionally. Everybody wants to see deadly through balls and attacking play all of the time and thinks passing sideways is somehow a waste.

He stopped being this attacking midfielder who arrives onto the ball late many years ago.

He plays a simple game, which is no bad thing when standing in.

I never really considered Hernandez for DM. I don't like him as RB. He is calm on the ball and has a good eye for a pass forward from that point of view he could play DM but not sure that he has the legs to run around which is a requirement for us in a 2 man midfield. He would add a bit of height in midfield though.

You've also perfectly described Ulloa. Let's stick him there.

Well ulloa is tall.

He's not very cool on the ball and I'm not sure about the passing either. Not that I suggested Hernandez, my suggestion was Amartey.

Ulloa is what he is, a hard working slightly slow striker who can control a ball and protect it well. He can score and would make a good striker for a lower prem team, as he does make a good alternative to our strikeforce when the pace isn't working and we're unable to hold onto the ball. He's not a midfield player - Okazaki would be the better striker to play midfield.

With good reason.

He's a central defender and not an especially good one on the evidence we've seen so far. He's exposed at right back let alone in midfield. It's utter madness to consider playing him there. We can only hope that his game adapts quickly and he becomes a solid support defender when required.

In the meantime, I just hope that we don't need him.

Amartey is just a name. There is no evidence as yet about him whatsoever. We bought a player that was playing central defender for his former club and we've never played him there to my knowledge. I've seen him at right back, right midfield and centre midfield and he's looked nothing special in any of them.

King is the obvious replacement and I'm certain that he'll play against Swansea. He's sometimes good and sometimes totally anonymous. In a game where we really need three points, we play the safe and steady option.

Id prefer Armartey to replace Mendy because i think he will provide better defensive midfield qualities, its time for Musa to start a game, possibly from a wide position. We need a positive performance and a morrale lifting win, and thats what i think we will get with a 2-0 win Musa Vardy

Musa started against Hull.

There is no real evidence yet about Amartey. But there never will be if we don't play him. I agree that he should replace Mendy.

He played central midfield for his last club. We are without two central midfielders - Kante, and the guy signed to replace Kante. If we don't give him a start now, why the hell did we sign him?

There is evidence that in a 4 man midfield, King does not (generally) work well as part of the middle 2.

He has played. He's dreadful.

You are right Kingy is the obvious choice however it does not mean it is the right one Swansea will look to over run our midfield two which will be easier with King alongside Drinkwater, did Amartey not do a few cameo roles last season against Sunderland I recall although I may be wrong? Amartey is stronger and quicker we need a player to break up play and then give it to Drinkwater to bring others into the game.

The problem with King is when we break with speed he slows it down that goes against how we play as a side there is no doubt we are short in this position and I am sure CR is looking to strengthen there ASAP.
