Well the lack of posts on here this season certainly sums up the feeling of our club at the moment. Today we sunk to a new low of conceding over 500 runs in one day. After an encouraging start (performance wise if not results) we have just seem to have given up. No win in the championship again so far and not likely to get one either. Buck has left for Lancashire and Thakor for Derbyshire. Cobb was mulling over a move to Northants but Radio Leicester this morning mentioned he may be signing a new 1 year deal. Anyone fancy a knock next season, just send your CV down to Grace Road I'm sure you'll get a game. :icon_redf

We need to start again, and I'm not even convinced Cobb should stay. For all that Buck has been perhaps our best bowler this season, he's part of the failed generation. Maybe not his fault, and you have to asks what exactly constitutes failure for this set of coaches if this isn't it, but he took less than 10 championship wickets last year. He's not a teenager any more. We tried this year sticking by and large with the players from last year and it hasn't worked. Ship this lot out and let's start again from the beginning - but let's start with a new coaching team that gets the best out of them. What's Tim Boon doing now?

How long can the farce that is Leicestershire ccc continue?

Surely Rutland should take their undeserved place in the Championship.

Not sure where LCCC go from here. In the last few years the following players have jumped ship to join other counties despite LCCC wanting to keep them....

Stuart Broad
David Masters
Luke Wright
James Taylor
Darren Stevens
James Allenby
Darren Maddy
Harry Gurney
Nathan Buck
Shiv Thakor
Josh Cobb

Probably going....
Ned Eckersley
Greg Smith

Some serious talent there. If only we could hold onto players we would have a more than decent team. It is so demoralising that our home grown players go on and flourish at other clubs and it really makes you wonder why we bother any more.

A case of Cobb to Cobblers?

Forget the County Championship, second XI cricket is far more important:

http://www.ecb.co.uk/news/articles/leicestershire-seconds-claim-treble

Leicestershire claimed an unprecedented Second XI trophy treble after rain washed out the last day of the Championship final against Essex.

Heavy rain overnight prompted the umpires to abandon any hope of play at 9.45am, which handed Leicestershire the title because they had claimed a first-innings lead.

Leicestershire had already won the Second XI Twenty20 and Trophy finals this summer and were well on top at the Essex County Ground, opening up a 302-run lead after the first innings.

Ben Raine’s double-century helped the visitors to a massive 676 and Essex were 107 for three in reply, still 195 runs behind, overnight when the rain came.

It meant Lloyd Tennant’s team, who were unbeaten to top their division, became the first to win three second XI titles in a season and provided a timely boost to the county, who lie at the foot of LV= County Championship Division Two.

So presumably this means there will be more good young players leaving for Notts etc in the next few years.
