Just wonder if anyone else is think we might not have the buying power and money we thought we would have. At the end of last season sven was talking about quick deals for a number of the loan players we had, and i was expecting some big ish names to follow, but its all we have seen so far is a few solid but unispiring league 1 and championship players. perosnally im not sure they are even good enough to replace the loanees we had let alone push on for a play off, or automatic spot. I can see it being a tough year with west ham and the brummies down, they seem to be maintaining the core of the squads

You are right of course, we could go out and spend lots of money on good players, or we could get good players for free. I know which I'd prefer.

Peltier, Schmeichal and Danns for a comined total of (roughly) £1.75m. I'll take that over bank busters.

It might also be worth mentioning that there will probably be several more signings to come and some of these will probably command a fee. Also, it is far easier to sign a free agent than to negotiatiate with a club.

Two more edits and you'll be there.

I'm shitting bricks that we've only brought in Danns, Peltier and Schmeichel. How many days until the transfer window shuts?

Calm down! Calm down. Superscout's back, everything will move on a pace now.

About 65? :102:

I can understand Berkshire_Fox's frustration, but I don't share it. A whole raft of players have been released by the club because they are not viewed as beneficial to our progress. The current signings have been signed to improve the squad. I doubt their names will make the first team, GK aside, but their signings are part of the overall picture.
I actually feel demand/supply will work in our favour. As the window closes clubs will decrease their demands for players who are unwanted. The pressures upon clubs to reduce the wage bill should stimulate unforeseen opportunities.
We may be perceived as a cash rich club but there is no reason for them to spend it. As numerous posters have elicited "It's only June".
As the deadline approaches I'd be happy to see our targets involved in an auction. As long as we step away when their value isn't justified.

We were after (at least) a left back, a right back, two centre backs, a keeper, a midfielder and two strikers. The players we have brought in will not be cheap, if the others are of the same value/quality then they won't be cheap either. Come the end of the window we will have spent a large amount of cash.... what were you expecting, us to pay £5m for a right back like Naughton, and similar amounts in other positions?

No I don't think so, there is money, but it has to be spent wisely. The consortium that owns the Club are shrewd business people, they are looking for value for money as well as moving the club in the direction they and we want .They are not the Sheik of Man. City or Abramavic, but they know there are large ammounts of money to be made in the Far East IF they can get the club into the Premier League. Expect more signings, but the best will be last, so patience is required.
